But pretty sure he was playing at UNC when Clover won the State Championship. Talented team and kept the ball the majority of the gameCover Three wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 11:10 amAnd those two guards pulling in front of him. I think one was a Shrine Bowler, and the other was a North/South participant. Pretty easy to call plays with that setup. Talent trumps everything.

Re: South Pointe
Chad Hill maybe, or Ryan Moore
Re: South Pointe
Clover had no Shrine Bowl players the year they won state. They also have won state just that once in their history I believe. Had to go through loaded Greenwood and Beaufort teams to do it.
Re: South Pointe
Seems there was a Douglas, Ricky Moore, and and another back I can’t remember his name. I used to work with him. That is bad.
Re: South Pointe
Steven Sanders and Tyron Douglas

5thqtr, since you asked, Conway has loads of size and good talent. They just don’t seem prepared and play down to the competition. They almost mirror Rock Hill. Carolina Forest doesn’t have tradition, is a huge school. Probably a more transient community as well. Dutch Fork knocked them out of the playoffs 3 straight. Garcia’s senior year I thought they had a chance, but he just didn’t have a good receiving corp. They were actually beating Dutch Fork in the semis 14-7 and Dutch Fork pulled off a fake punt. After that it was like Carolina Forest just gave up. Knots pulled a classic Saban move and gave his team a huge momentum changer. Myrtle Beach has the most talent in the area by far. They have good qb’s, receivers, and defensive linemen usually.

Yeah, I know about the Seahawks! I've wanted to play them again since 2011 State Championship - "gift" game(5 turnovers).
Conway sounds like a championship contender waiting to happen. They use to get derailed by Byrnes every year it seemed. No such worries anymore if they could come back to prominence. Now they will have a Dutch Fork, Northwestern, Gaffney, Dorman problem!
NW -- BTW Maniac was really good. I personally thought NW had the better shot of beating DF; but Gaffney did it as well! They have found a HC that can take advantage of a good talent pool.
I remember the Jim Ringer Bearcats! Tough as nails; even if you got the win against them! It wasn't going to be easy. Rock Hill High hasn't been right since he left.
2009 when they had "YAY Stewart" they were tough! But, they exited the playoffs in the 1st round after having finished the regular season undefeated.
Do you remember the two-year "Lull" NW had between Moose retiring the 1st time and coming back with Richardson? It was terrible. The theme being Maniac - just because you have the talent - does not mean you will be a winning program. A bunch of schools around the state has talent!
That's why I am nervous as a hooker in church about this HC hire!

Man, those dudes were tough!
You couldn't tackle them alone very often! You had to have straight-up studs to tackle them straight up! With the double team blocks and misdirection they did - plus their running style. Clover was a machine!
"Until the Double Wing" book got passed around a little bit. I still love watching teams run it though; especially on teams that didn't prep correctly for it. "It's a thing of beauty"!

This hire will be huge for SP. Do they hire someone connected to the previous success or promote from within? What is the holdup on officially posting the job?
