C.E. Murray football coach will lead team when high school merges with Kingstree

C.E. Murray head football coach Brian Smith will be the first leader of the Kingstree Blazers, the combined Kingstree and C.E. Murray high schools that starts this fall, Williamsburg County School District Superintendent Rose Wilder told The News.

Smith, who has spent seven seasons in two stints with C.E. Murray, was chosen over Randall State, the current coach at Kingstree who just finished his first season.

State said he learned about the new Kingstree coach from a reporter. He said that finding out he did not get the job that way shows the lack of organization within the district that is under control of the S.C. Department of Education.

CE Murray enrollment is down to 227 in the 135-ADM, 75 of them Freshmen.

CE Murray has always had great athletes. Sending ‘em to Kingstree should work out well. I ain’t saying they gonna win State, but they should be a good 2A team. I predict a winning record and at they should at least get to the 2nd Round.

You gotta remember that there is no recurring dominant force in 2A Lower State, so they’ll be just fine

It has just come to my attention today that Oceanside will be in 2A Lower State as of 2022. Oceanside will rule 2A Lower State for years to come, and Abbeville and Gray Collegiate will continue to rule the 2A Upper State.

I predict the Kingstree Blazers finish over .500
