Union County @ Newberry

Post by bigdog2003 »

The Cedrick Jeter era at Newberry High School will begin this Friday night as the Yellow Jackets of Union County will travel to Bulldog Stadium.

I have no clue what to expect. The Bulldogs are young, but talented. Coming off of a 7 point loss to eventual state champion Gray Collegiate in the Upper State Championship, I am excited to see how we do. The young kids looked good Friday night vs Spring Valley. I'm just ready to kick the season off.

From a couple of people I talked to that saw Greer/ Union last week , the yellow jackets are awful. I like the dogs in this one.

We played Spring Valley tough in the Chapin Jamboree. We moved the ball on them, and they didn't do anything until the end.

Maybe Union kept some kids out of the jamboree due to injury, or to not risk injury. Union always has athletes and speed. I know Greer is good, but it is hard to lose by that type of score in one half of football.

I don’t think that’s the case
From what I’ve been told their small on the dline and slow
And it’s not that hard to lose by that score or worse if your just bad. Union hasn’t been Union for awhile now. They have been a bad program for a solid 5 years now. Look at the records and the scores. Seems to me they would need to be playing guys and not holding them out.

Greer scored on their first two plays on offense. One was a QB run after a bad snap and broken play and the other was an outside receiver screen. That should say enough about their defense. Their offense is not much better. The OL is bad bad, #5 and #6 are their best weapons on offense. If Newberry’s DL can control the line then they’ll dominate.
