RHH football program

Post by BearcatsofRH »

My goodness!
You could tell at the jamboree the Bearcats were not prepared well.
**for those of you that didn't attend, the bearcats did not appear to come out and warm up until well after Byrnes had already started. In fact, the rest of the teams started on the sideline then after the prior game took the field. "No Bearcats though"!

That was a microcosm of what they ended up showing! I like the team and believe they will come together and fight to win ball games. I just don't know how. A "chill" attitude is not going to get RHH out of the hole it currently finds itself in.

Because of the charaecter of the kids - I think we win a few games. I think the embarassing loss to NW makes us better and we improve throughout the season.
Not enough likely to make a playoff run; but enough to hopefully acquit ourselves. Win or lose it's Bearcats all day!

We just have to get better and find "a clear identity as a football program"!

This Bearcat team has a chance to go down as the worst Bearcat team in school history. Defense is porous and the oline could not block the girls tennis team. Looks to me like the coaching situation at RH needs to be addressed too. But will it? 9 years of terrible teams is enough. This years team may not even be competitive in most of their games. Maybe they will give Fort Mill a fight though.

Make a playoff run and Rock Hill cannot be put in the same sentence. My God.

Don't say that. Even bad teams make the playoffs these days.

Bearcats need a "new direction" in my opinion. Hopefully, all get to stay on in a teacher role, but give up their coaching duties.

Enough people who still remember Rock Hill being a force in the State find it hard to watch beyond me. If the NW loss wasn't enough to get those with the ability to change direction of the program, then nothing will. Unless we go out and not just lose games/ but lose them badly similar to how we lost to NW.

The road isn't going to get easier as we have South Pointe next week!

I will go ahead and call it now; no way they put up 89 points on the Bearcats. Those kids will have a great week of practice and play with pride this week. Being a rivalry game and coming off an embarassing loss leads me to believe this will be a great effor by the Bearcats. Add in the fact, South Pointe may still have Gaffney win hangover and I think the Bearcats keep it to a 5 TD loss.

(((((((that in itself is sad commentary from a once proud program)))))))))).

This really pains me because Bubba was my quarterback. He has to step down. Not the week of the Stalllions game, but soon.

Water Cooler talk from people that do not even live in Rock Hill has been about the lopsided score so far today. Questions about, "sportsmanship" and what if questions and the like. I've heard, "it's not my job to stop my team from scoring a bunch today"! Just terrible.
If you get a chance to see RHH this season the way the team is built to this point. Tell me they don't have some nice size/speed players to work with when you see them. They do. A whole team full - no. If the only way someone can win is to simply have more talent - are they a good coach? Did the talent make up for their coaching ability?
Questions not accusations!!

Tom Knotts took over some programs that were homecoming teams and made them into perennial powerhouse teams! And, "the talent gravitated to him" afterwards! But, the 1st step is doing the most with "what you do have"! That means, being competitive but perhaps being short enough athletes to get over the hump. It means being prepard; but not quite being enough to beat more athletic teams!
I've lowered my expectations and this is still disappointing: "no fight back on a consistent basis"!

The "consistent basis" being key. A couple years ago when NW and SP had underachieving years RHH did win the city chapionship!

We care about football in Rock Hill! Look at the board of teams who do not have winning programs and you "typically" do not see them on message boards like this. Teams who use to be really good yearly; you see fewer and fewer of their posters as they stop winning.
Maniac(Mania), Realist and me(Bearcat/Bulldog) have been with the Bearcats going back to the PFT days. We care! It matters! And the current direction the Bearcats are being led "does not sit well" with anyone who cares or it matters to. Not at all.

Best thing here is: "nobody is calling for anyone's job"! Just perhaps their role with the school district!

Seen a couple references here to taking some coaching jobs away, but not the teaching job. I get it, and maybe they can be reassigned to a middle school, or somewhere else in the district. But if RH is serious about football, and that is in question, you need those teaching positions to attract new assistants. No coach would want to come to RH and be forced to inherit the whole previous staff because there are no open teaching positions in the areas that you usually find the football caoches.

I think not!!! Perhaps the NW connection needs to go away. New Principal, new AD and new Coach. I'm starting to sense a vast NW conspiracy. Infiltrate and destroy from within. District #3 needs to take a look at this. Unless of course they have been compromised too.
