Of course you have to have a body to make rules and regulations. But you have to admit they dont do much and just because they stretch things out to make it look like they doing something doesn’t make it more worthy of more money. You and I could probably figure most of what they do out over some cold brews. You have to admit that they make a lot of head scratching decisions that don’t really benefit the athletes. All I’m saying is there’s always room for improvement. You can’t possibly disagree with that.

As far as a school like DWD I’m not even talking about them.
They actually have tons of support money volunteers and the like. None of what I’m saying would make much of a difference to them. But there are a lot of these small town teams where it would make a big difference. That’s who I’m speaking up for.

There are too many teams in the 5A bracket. 32 of 36

As for the placement, you can argue all day about that either way.
I'll argue that there are not ENOUGH teams in SC for 5 divisions.
I've been saying that since they announced it...

I think they should have only 3 divisions and then split them for the playoffs. 16 teams in AAA-D1 and 16 is AAA-D2 and the same with AA and A. Like they did with 4A for years and even some of the other divisions.

They don’t need two divisions in each . It’s already watered down enough. Case of less is more. Let those teams that don’t make playoffs play one or two extra games if they choose to.

After years of tweaking the split 4A playoff we just abandoned for this 5A bull was the best and most fair for the largest schools. I know points was a pain to keep up with at times but it made the playoffs fair for the bottom half of the division. With the current 5A class the state championship game will never have a team outside of the top 10 in enrollment. It’s just a fact. No I’m not an everybody gets a trophy guy but the proof is in the puddin. More students doesn’t mean good football but for the schools that put everything into it they are going to dominate.

Gaffney is outside of the top 10 if I’m not mistaken…

Did the HSL ever publish the final (adjusted) ADM numbers? You can't use the basic numbers from the Dept. of Education, there are lots of students in specialized schools that have to be reallocated back the the school they can play sports with.

Examples:
Dutch Fork usually has a fair number of students that attend Spring Hill High.
Mayo HS students get allocated back to Darlington, Hartsville and McBee.
All the magnet schools that do not have sports.
Freshman Academies which are reported separately by the Dept. of Education.

Splitting but on 16 in the bracket is like 3 32 team brackets {96 of just over 200 making the playoffs} is a good compromise. 32 of 36 is something to let the coach's resume look better "I made the playoffs x years in a row".
