Worst Team in 5A?

I remember those days at Byrnes. I believe Corne preceeded Bentley as coach. Byrnes ran the ball all the time as most teams did back then. They were a decent program, but not a power. Bentley came in and changed the offense to what became a sensation eventually. Problem was that it took a while and folks got frustrated. I think Bentley was on a pretty hot seat entering his third year, but that is when it all clicked and their program took off. I can't remember the name of the kid who was the star on that team that turned it around for him. But he was a special player. Think he ended up at Georgia. Want to think his name was Robinson. But I could be wrong. Been a long time

Actually, there were two coaches between Bo Corne and Bobby, see below.

Durrell Robinson. Younger brother, Bradley was good as well (ask Conway, he torched them two consecutive years at Williams Brice}.

Stall has no business being at the 5A Level ...
Stall always has a few good athletes.
And the last few years a decent offense but when you're defense gives up
40-50 points a game ...you're not going far....
As for this year's Wando team... They have some size and are pretty stout on Defense but
When you have no offense the points start adding up later in the game.
And the bigger question for me is when the center keeps bouncing the ball back to
The QB why do you not change something?
Wando split 2 years ago and the split school Lucy Beckham beat them in game 1 on the 1st try....
Plus you have Oceanside and Phillip Simmons over there now...
So things will only get worse for Wando the next few years....

Plus add to the fact there are 9 private schools over in Mt. Pleasant, Wando is to much a white collar school much like JL Mann. They seem to excel in other sports just not football. Also look at the number of State Champions/Runner-ups Oceanside and Wando has in other sports. They having been losing some of the best athletes to OSA for several years. Attrition has set in and will continue until schools like Grays, Legion, and Oceanside are addressed.

This makes me angry all over again!!! The powers that be ruined a dynasty that would still be going strong to this day!

I often wonder if Miller would have stayed at Byrnes if Bentley had not suddenly popped back up on the scene in Duncan after his experiment at PC didn't work out like he wanted. Sort of a weird place to be the head coach when the man that created the dynasty is suddenly back in the locker room. Miller went to Spartanburg and won a state title on his own to get out from under that shadow, so I guess it worked out for everybody.

Inho they should have to play x the amount of schools in that district up in classification.

Enrollment of 600 you can draw from 5 highdchools .600 x5 = 3000 your in 5A ect.

They did that for travel expenses as I'm sure you know.we nor anyone else wants to play them in region . Can't drop them because of region. We could play better comp .I question why we still play Berkley. We don't havr a decades old rivalry.

As for wando years of misuse of facilities and resources have bit them in the butt.
