Greenwood County Football
96 was the only Greenwood County team that didn't lose and they didn't play. Nobody even came close, all blow outs.

Dubose and Liner won’t turn things around at Emerald and Greenwood
Turn Emerald into a ninth grade academy, get rid of both current head coaches, and bring back Gene Cathcart.

Re: Greenwood County Football
I don't know the situation at Emerald however Liner has already turned things around at Greenwood. Liner's 1st year tied for 1st place in region and lost to South Pointe in double overtime in the playoffs. Liner's 2nd year we won 10 games and only lost to Dutch Fork and South Pointe. Took South Pointe to the wire again. This is Liner's 3rd year. 9 new starters on offense to start the year. Then our best player breaks his ankle in the 1st game of the 1st quarter against 4th ranked AC Flora. So now we have 10 new starters plus injuries on top of injuries. Not the reason we lost those games. The teams we played are just better. The game tonight against Hanna was 14-14 going into the 4th quarter. We got beat by a better team. When region play starts, we'll be getting back most of our injured kids. The Gwood kids are getting better. We'll be alright. To say Liner is not the guy just because we've lost to 4 really good teams is ridiculous. Greenwood will be better when we are at full strength. The 4 Teams we lost to
AC Flora= 4-0
Sandy Creek= 4-1
Dorman= 4-0
TL Hanna= 4-1
Now if we had played easy teams and won we'd be in really big trouble not knowing what we need to work on to get better.
Congrats to Hanna
AC Flora= 4-0
Sandy Creek= 4-1
Dorman= 4-0
TL Hanna= 4-1

I somewhat agree with 2k1. Lets not use excuses though. We don't do that at Greenwood. Regardless of who's injured or how good the teams we're playing or whatever we still need to play a better game. 14 all in the 4th and then ends up 31-14. Gotta play all 4 quarters. Who we have is who we have. Greenwood needs to go into the bye week, get healthy and TURN IT UP A COUPLE NOTCHES. Period

Greenwood has played a schedule much like a FCS school learning how to be in the SEC, saying they deserve a right to be in the playoffs in the big boy division. Liner did well last year but sustained success is what you are still looking for. Greenwood hasn’t seen that since Cathcart and not against the powerhouse schools. Much like the college game, it is a good thing when they are in the mix but also like the Nebraska AD said about their problems” we need to stop living in the past with our championships and success and deal with the now and future of this program”.
Now if we had played easy teams and won we'd be in really big trouble not knowing what we need to work on to get better.
Congrats to Hanna

You do realize the main point of HS is to give kids as good an education as possible don’t you ??
Schools get too large and lot of mediocre to poorer students fall through the cracks.
Re think your priorities please

RamFan, are you the same guy who used to rave about the waffle house and tractor pulls at the Byrnes games? DeCav...can you recall?

Re: Greenwood County Football
It's not that Greenwood lost these games, they got beat down. Also, the one team they beat is 1-4. Sometimes the first year or 2 is the former guy's team, not the current coach. THIS is Liner's team for sure and things don't look well at all. The situation at Emerald is even worse and 96 is just as bad. When it comes to coaches, Greenwood County needs a do over.GwoodEagle2k1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 2:00 amI don't know the situation at Emerald however Liner has already turned things around at Greenwood. If all freshmen from both schools are removed from the population of the actual high school, the student to teacher ratio doesn’t change much at allRamFan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 8:28 amNo Fly Zone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 1:33 amDubose and Liner won’t turn things around at Emerald and Greenwood

It’s easy to make comments like the one you made from afar, but you don’t know what’s going on in Greenwood. The city is fractured. Liner is doing a lot of fix off the field issues, I’ll give him that. Dubose doesn’t give a you know what. He hired a bunch of his friends that want to pray and thump their Bible at kids, but they aren’t doing anything at all in the neighborhoods that need to most help. They only want a certain type of student athlete. The head bball coach over there is a great man but a wildly unsuccessful coach.
If the right coach comes in and wins, it won’t stop the gang violence but it will unite a community and save a ton of kids from taking the wrong path.

100% CORRECT. Greenwood is a county in steep decline, the problems run much deeper than football.No Fly Zone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 9:26 amIf all freshmen from both schools are removed from the population of the actual high school, the student to teacher ratio doesn’t change much at allRamFan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 8:28 amNo Fly Zone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 1:33 amDubose and Liner won’t turn things around at Emerald and Greenwood
