Dorman

Post by DeCav »

No one is talking about the Cavs much. But looking ahead I see Dorman rolling into region play like a freight train. Anyone not betting on an undefeated Dorman hosting Byrnes in a few weeks is playing with Monopoly money.

I'm not saying Dorman is all that. We might lose out for rest of the year going ahead, but at some point a dialogue needs to be had about expectations on our new coach and what report card he gets heading into region play.

And btw...not for nuthin' but not everyone here has a wife who can just hug it out with Trent Reznor.

Just sayin'. Surely I get some cred for that Mikey?

Haven't gotten to watch you any other than a few highlights, read some stats.
Record wise you can't get better than 5-0 at this point.
River Bluff is probably better than some think.

What are your thoughts on a Report Card?

Well I'd like to know what Ken thinks about this since your interest seems peeked.

Why not put together a system where there's a link to a spreadsheet that basically has a report card on every coach on the radar.

Nothing scandalous or controversial. Yes, in the wrong hands it could be abused. But slowly, over time had numbers can be entered and certain aspects could be rated. I would think it would be fair to engineer a polling system on the site and poll people to rate 10 different aspects of coaching for starters...for all the head coaches in 5A.

This is already one of the hottest spots in SC when it comes time for coaches to change employers. We might as well be a staffing agency. Let's expand our reach and service to include a live report card on each coach. We could start with the new Dorman coach.

I thought the RiverBluff game felt like a trap game to me.

Dorman HAS been tested. To argue otherwise would be to argue in bad faith. These are jamboree numbers. We didn't play 5 scrimmages. All these teams showed up to play and it's not like any of the scores are lopsided. I'm not saying Dorman is the best but certainly our stock has risen? I'm not sure we even made most top ten lists.

What do you think about a report card system? If done right, you could really corner a market and bring in more traffic.

I try not to think, I usually get into a lot of trouble when I think! However, for you, I'll make an exception. Dorman has one of, if not the best line for a QB and RB to follow. They can control the trenches and make openings that I might be able to get 3 or 4 yards at my old age! I think this sums it up:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8500&p=62911#p62911

where I talk about Region II and the other Regions as we begin the "important" games.

I am not sure what you are looking for in the report card; however, I am pretty good with a spreadsheet so if you get the information you want to track, I'll do my best.

If there is a poll without Dorman listed in the TOP TEN, then I'd use that poll to train a puppy. I think there is a real possibility that a 9-0 Dorman could be hosting Spartanburg for the outright Region II Championship.

I agree on all your points. Dorman's obviously not going to go undefeated. Probably the Vikes will steal out thunder. I know 95 said the Vikes are having laundry issues.

I'm just going to say that our new coach has so far way exceeded my expectations.

I'll get back to you about some type of fair format for a report card. I'm just thinking if I'm an AD out there and I know such a thing exists, I'm visiting SCPrepTalk and thumbing through resumes. I guess maybe that's what I'm shooting for. A report card/resume on all things coaching. SCPrepTalk could become a major player in highschool athletics if we basically have a coaching "bluebook".

As for Coach Curtis first year, cannot just talk about the Varsity level, but how are the lower levels are doing? Seems like we have 20 seniors staring this year. On the lower levels, this is where you build a program and where Gutshall had failed the last few years. I do know this, the players like Coach Curtis and his intense practices.
