Re: Who ranks these kids for recruiting?
I just refer back to the recruiting factory of old Byrnes circa late 2000’s. They produced maybe the most d1 recruits maybe the state has ever seen from one program during any 5 year period. Byrnes was a case study of what went right and what went wrong, but the huge spotlight put on Byrnes created a big shadow for the rest of the state to lie in. Programs aren’t looking for diamonds in the rough anymore. They aren’t paying attention to who can dominate in high school. They want to excite their fanbase and get into recruiting wars with other programs.

The best Lanoris Sellars can do is Syracuse?

You were talking about this Manning Monarchs player that got pushed around by Dillon's offensive line?
Monteque Rhames a 4-star defensive end committed to the University of South Carolina.
Rhames, a 6-foot-7-inch, 240-pound senior, transferred from Sumter to Manning at the start of the school year due to a disciplinary situation.https://www.hssr.com/4-star-defensive-e ... or-manning
Oceanside Collegiate & Gray Collegiate could teach the gamecocks a thing or two on recruiting.

Understand how rating/stars are awarded. First of al, there are no 1 star or 2 star athletes. Occasionally you'll see a 2 star as a walk-on.
So what you really have in the recruiting game are 3-5 stars.... which is really 1-3. In order for a kid to get a 3 star is to be offered... nothing more. These come from camps. College recruiters want to see you in person and verify your measurable.... height, weight, speed, etc...
From there you either get to showcases and move up or show something outstanding on film.
If you don't have the measurable, then you don't move up. Mentioned in this thread is how a OL 'dominated' a rated/starred DL; if that OL isn't at least 6'4", then no matter how much they got the better of that 4star, they ain't getting offered. And that is the 1st threshold for OL.
There are several other thresholds, but you fans in the stands aren't the risk threshold for college coaches jobs.
Clemson/Carolina/etc... coaches will keep their job if a 4/5 star recruit doesn't pan out; they won't if a 3 star doesn't.

There are several OL players on both South Carolina & Clemson roster under 6/4.

I am an Alabama fan since 1963.
their defense didn't look like they
had any 5 star on the field Saturday.
ROLL TIDE!

I pay zero attention to college ball but I would guess there’s a difference between getting offers from a school and being a name on their roster.
