Region one has Hillcrest and J L Mann playing for the #2 seed and Woodmont and Mauldin playing for the #4 seed.
The only question in Region II is who gets second place? Dorman and Spartanburg are playing for the #2 seed from Region II. Yes, Dorman and Spartanburg winner could be tied with Gaffney should Byrnes pull off the upset, however, the Indians have the tie breaker with the head to head win, so the Injuns are the #1 seed from Region II.
Region III, Blythewood is the #1 Seed and a Clover win over Rock Hill would give the Blue Eagles the #2 seed and the Nation Ford win over Spring Valley almost gives them the #3 seed. Spring Valley would need to beat Blythewood and a Nation Ford loss to Fort Mill to get the #3 Seed.
Region IV, Dutch Fork -vs- Lexington for the Region Championship.
Region V has Sumter at the #1 seed and Carolina Forest and St. James playing for the #2 seed.
Region VI has Goose Creek as the #1 seed with Cane Bay as the likely #2 seed unless they lose to Slick's Stags. Should the results end up: Berkeley beats Cane Bay and Goose Creek beats Stratford, those Stags end up as the #2 seed!
Region VII
Summerville and Fort Dorchester play for the Region #1 Seed and Ashley Ridge beating Stall gives them the #3 Seed.

Does it matter if Chapin beats River Bluff?

Yes because it can create a 3-way tie for 3rd place.

Who knows what the procedure is for determining the at large?

Re: 5A Playoff Implications
From my understanding at-large teams are teams that don't qualify based on region standings, but then petition the SCHSL as to why they should be included. There is a committee that considers the petitions.Rebel-Fan-74 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 12:48 pmWho knows what the procedure is for determining the at large?
Things that a team could apply could be:
- being a region with many more teams compared to others (7/8 team regions compared to 5 team regions)
- reclassification juggling; I.E. those that petitioned it
- other things that are out of the school's control: travel, Midlands team in the split regions, region tie-breakers, etc...
In the past there were usually only 2-3 teams sending in petitions.
Yet another reason why SC has too many classifications. Somebody has to argue their way in to the playoffs.....
