ORANGEBURG-WILKINSON AT BEAUFORT POLL 11/4/22

Post by BEAUFORTEAGLESFAN »

Orangeburg-Wilkinson is coming into this game with a record of 3-7 overall. The Bruins are Avg. 12 points a game and are giving up 25 points a game. OB-Wilkinson is coming off a 7-0 win over Swansea. The Bruins have a record of 0-4 in away games so far this season.

Beaufort is coming into this game with a record of 8-1 overall. The Eagles are Avg. 30 points a game and are giving up 11 points a game. Beaufort is coming off a big 49-14 win over Hanahan. The Eagles have a record of 5-0 in Home games so far this season.

Beaufort and Orangeburg-Wilkinson have played against one another only 2 times with each School winning once. They have not played against one another since 2015 though. This is the opening round of the 3A Playoffs. I am already excited about this game!!!! Hopefully, My Eagles can continue to play well and advance.

Doodles has Beaufort favored by 43 points over Orangeburg-Wilkinson. Do y'all agree with him? Will Beaufort win? Will OB-Wilkinson get the upset win? Let's hear your thoughts and predictions on this 3A Playoff Game!!!! I will give mine later on in the week. :D 8-) .

GO BEAUFORT EAGLES BEAT THOSE ORANGEBURG-WILKINSON BRUINS!!!!

You should pray for an early exit . You don’t want a replay of last year. Maybe worse!

Beaufort better let Dillon in on the secret that they have a reservation in Columbia for the title game. I don't think anyone has told them...

Exactly. 1 game at a time. Our biggest game of the year is against Orangeburg-Wilkinson. And Daniel had better let Powdersville and Clinton in on their reservation plans as well. We will take this one game at a time.

It's not a pretty picture, that's for sure. Last season, although that team was really loaded, they were not ready for the bright lights and all that goes with it. They lost to Oceanside in a televised game and then to South Pointe in the Championship.

This year, with those experiences under our belt, this team has been much better under the bright blights. But we have 4 very tough games lying in front of us before any of that becomes a reality.

This team reminds me of some of the top teams that I saw back during the early 2000's. They have that swagger and that confidence that every time that they take the field, it is all about them, not the opponents. Will we get to State? Will we win it this time? Not sure about any of that just yet, but we are in the tournament, and we have the chance to win our way there. That's all that anyone can ask. I will be very disappointed if we do not at least make the Lower State Finals. Dillon or Camden appear to be the teams that "should" be awaiting if we are fortunate enough to make it that far. And we all know that neither one of those teams is a pushover.

OK, back to this game. Orangeburg-Wilkinson always has a lot of really good athletes. In order for Beaufort to have success in this game, we will have to whip them in an eleven against eleven football game and not try to match them, or beat them in a game of one against one. We will have to "out football" them, not "out athlete" them.

This is the type of game that typically creates problems for Beaufort as we have some really good athletes ourselves, and we get caught up in the "which one of us is better" game, and lose sight of the bigger picture. The kind of mentality that the Eagles bring will go a long way in deciding how this game plays out. Typically, in order to have long term success in the playoffs, a team has to win at least one game where they are severely tested. This game has all of the earmarks to be that game for us this postseason.

After the South Pointe debacle in the Championship Game last season, I am sure that our coaching staff is well aware of these very things, and will have the Eagles ready to play as a team. Beaufort is far too good to allow this one to go south. Maybe a little early adversity, but in the long run, our overall attention to detail will prevail. The emergence of Samari Bonds, at QB, as a legitimate threat both running and throwing the ball, has made an already formidable offense, even more dangerous. And the Eagles Defense, statistically the best in 3A this year, has been especially nasty towards the end of the season. With a very good Kicking game, and with maybe the best return man in the State, Beaufort has one of the most complete teams that I can ever remember.

I do think that Mr. Doodles may have this one a bit on the high side of reality. At least the Bruins will only have an hour and a half ride home afterwards. This game will help us get our heads right for the minefield ahead.
