I have to agree with your co-worker now.eagle93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 3:48 pmIronically a coworker who's son was on the 2010-2012 Easley teams told me in 2013, Greenwood's days of being a powerhouse are over since Cathcart is gone. Shoot. He was right. Lol. Haven't sniffed going to a title game since and only won region once.StateChampsGHS wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 3:36 pmI think Greenwood years are over and done. Even if Greenwood changes the offense, Liner will still run basic plays out of it with the wrong guys in position. Greenwood don't develop guys the right way or utilize talented players on the team. Liner definitely need to get some new assistant coaches on staff. Our assistants look lost out there. All he got to do is look at all the previous games this year and he will know which assistance coaches I'm referring to. It's unacceptable!
I hope I'm wrong but I'm coming to realize we made the wrong hire.

It is what it is. Greenwood is just a regular school now. Lots of money to just be average at best.
Re: Greenwood @ Northwestern (round two)
They aren't changing the head coach. The AD and the coach are very tight. I suppose they will both retire there. Both make 6 digits+. If anything changes would probably be some of the assistant coaches. OC and/or DC. That may not even change. Like I said before. It is what it is. Lol.greenjewel wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 6:05 pmLybrand of Beaufort is the guy for Greenwood. Liner will never win there. He has been a head coach for 15 years now with only 6 seasons over 500 with 3 of those 6 in 1-A ball..........he has never had 10 win season anywhere......6 years at Laurens, one winning season...........he is doing just what his resume said that he would do.

Just did a little research... Liner is 19-12 at Greenwood with two region titles ('20,'21) and three playoff wins and yall are ready to burn the boat. He's also 2-1 agaisnt the guy he beat for the job too. Heck if it wasn't for COVID that 2020 team could've won state... if they would've elimanted the turnovers between the QB and center they would've been pretty unstoppable but not having spring practice hurt them. 1 region title. 2020 was a three way tie. You're talking about a school that used to win the region title every year. Yet that's been a decade ago now. Our standards are to win the region title and compete for championships. From 2010 to 2012 they went to state 3 years in a row. It is what it is. That's the past. That's not Greenwood now.Redraider66 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 8:01 pmJust did a little research... Like Eagle 93 said, "It is what it is." We just have to accept it and move on. No changes will happen.
Heck, you don't really have to fire no one but geez just coach better and become more balance in what you do.
Good teams will make you one dimensional and force you to do something you not comfortable and/or weak at doing.

Everybody wants to win no doubt but if you lose at least go down with great effort. The players gave it 110% all season but I don't think all the coaches gave the same effort. Next year, we need to see more effort out of the coaches.
You need to prepare the players and put them in a position to win every game. Example: There's no reason why we can't kick the football deep and tackle guys in space. Giving up a short field to good teams will hurt you everytime. We have to get better at that. We have athletic guys on the team. Look at them on the college level. Only difference is, on the college level they will fix that bad habit/coaching they endure on the high school level.

If the current coaches need help ask for help from former successful coaches. Doesn't hurt to ask folks if you weak in doing something. At the end of the day, the object is to get better and improve.
