Clover's Next Head Coach
Who will Clover hire as the next football coach? Will they go with somebody that has zero ties to the area or will they bring somebody back that knows the Clover community? Any idea?

It’s the guy at Lexington’s job to turn down. Not sure what they do if he doesn’t want it.

Woolbright? I don’t think Clover will pay him what he is making in Lexington. I am sure Clover will screw it up again and hire some NC coach like they did with Devine or some unknown at the 1a or 2A level!
Re: Clover's Next Head Coach
Some unknown from 1A or 2A like Turner? That worked out pretty well.

This job may not be as attractive as most people think. The best thing about it, being only HS in the district which means not having to share resources, kids, etc. will soon be changing. Lake Wylie HS is coming soon. Not sure that district can divide kids and still be competitive in football.
The pay will be pretty good though.

Nobody is like Turner or can be compared to what he did for Clover! If he would have stayed, he would have won another championship or two. He put Clover on the map then Devine destroyed it!
Let’s just hope they make the right hire

I agree with you on both points. The Devine hire destroyed everything Turner built in less than one year.

The pay is the 2nd highest in York County, only behind Dean Boyd at York. I am sure they have some fluff in the pay to get the best candidate for the job. The next high school is probably 2-3 years before it is up and running then you have to factor that they won't field a Varsity team in the first year. The biggest thing will be once the schools are cut into two different ones, Clover will drop from 5A to probably 3A.AngryMax wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 6:28 amThis job may not be as attractive as most people think. I would like to know the short list of Clover's candidates because I am sure they already have some folks in mind to interview. My top 3 candidates would be Todd Shigley at Andrew Jackson, Perry Woolbright at Lexington, and Strait Herron at Legion. Todd Shigley is an up and comer that will be coaching at a higher level soon if he wants because he has turned a weak program at AJ into a playoff team in the last few years. The other two have pretty deep ties to Clover. Any other ideas?
