What happened with Seidel at Blythewood?

Post by AngryMax »

Timing is odd. Not likely based on results on the field. What’s the deal?

This will be an interesting ripple job. Not sure many outside of Columbia will apply. I think they always have a chance to be pretty good playing in that region and Ridge View going to 4a Helps. With Spring Valley just now hiring a guy, to me means maybe the pool of applicants was shallow. I believe this will go to a Coordinator from a big program in the area, which will cause ripples.

Spring Valley had their guy months ago. Not sure what the hold up was, probably typical red tape BS.

Not sure what deal with admin is, that could change everything, but from strictly a football pov Blythewood is as good a job in Richland 1 or 2 there is. Possibly best, as White Knoll wasn’t good until Tommy got the job.

I think the key part of your statement is Richland 1 or 2. I think many coaches do not want to go to those districts because they don't think the district thinks Football is important. I can not imagine doing a job and my boss thinks my job is not important? Would not think the support would be there on a corporate level or district level in thinking of a school district.

At some point a coach has to bet on himself. Can’t avoid jobs because a message board questions admins commitment. Blythewood is a job you can win big at. Well worth the risk.

I know there were some pretty serious accusations thrown around between Blythewood and another school last year. I wonder if that had anything to do with this resignation that comes at a real odd time?

I would guess it had to do with recruiting? I think he was the one that was suspended for recruiting a couple years ago.

There were some indications that Blythewood was the reason that Ridge View was banned, I think....

Still, I don't think that would be a reason for a coach to resign. For such a "young" school, they have had their share and more of issues when it comes to coaches and the SCHSL. The facilities seemed nice at the field and the crowd was good size so I would think that it could be a good job for a coach.
