Word is he will be fired after this year. He is already trying to line up a job with Porter . Maybe his wife didn’t like 96, but the guy is not a good coach .
As far as someone from a big city not liking 96 . This is South Carolina. Look at how many rural schools there is . Like I said earlier, 96 should be able to find a good coach if they don’t paint themselves in a corner

Eastside is in one of the typical/worst segments of GC, it was the 'old suburbs' of downtown, not the hood, and the not the Millville. I'm not sure what the massive growth has done there to it, but Taylors was just in the middle of.... the middle. Good/Great area (at least used to be) to live and go to school, was close to downtown (not that DT Gville back then was anything other than hookers and junkies) but like you said it is just a lot of white bread, bland community make up. Mother-out-law used to live off Edwards Rd and back in the 90's is was old school suburbia.96fanatic wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 12:09 pmEvery now and then Eastside will have a decent team.Cover Three wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 9:22 amProbably lucky he left for Eastside. That program is in the tank. I figured he would get run after this past year, but by keeping him Eastside is another GC school that just proves they could care less about football
Coach Carlisle had a few pretty good teams the many
years he was there winning the state championship
in 1977 against Spring Valley. My youngest sister
graduated from Eastside in 1975.
Then again maybe it was just good because it was close to most everything..... but again this is from 30 years ago.

Ive heard Neal(96 asst), Duncan(saluda DC), Sargent(emerald OC), Butler(Greenwood DC), Brian Smith (HC RSM), Landrum asst(if who I think it is -96 alum), Middle school coach from rock hill(96 alum). From this group, I would go with Neal or Butler or maybe Duncan.

I think all would be a good choice. The powers that be have a tough decision.

You guys will never win when you have a middle school coach on your list just because he is from 96.
what a joke you 96 people are . Tom Butler from Greenwood? Guy is a not a very good coach . But keep limiting yourself to Lakelands people I will be laughing at you 96 people forever .
And the guy at Eastside will be fired after this year . No matter why he left 96

I think Tom Butler is a good coach. Has been apart of some really good staff's. I think Ninety Six would be luck for him to want to come there. He is what I think they need, a local guy that will stay. A guy that knows the game, and cares about kids. I do agree that Ninety Six is better than a middle school coach, but I'm not even from the area, what do I know?

Tom knows football but the times I have met him he seems to have a personality of a wall . In all honesty 96 could be a good job . But seems they are unwillingly to look outside the Lakelands . I mean Greenwood High hired a guy who was average at Laurens just because he was a Greenwood boy . How did that work out . Lost more than they won I believe

Na I think year before last he won 10. Now I think at Greenwood it is title or bust, but I also think 10 wins is dang good for most places.

Last year ? I don’t think Greenwood won ten . Well if it’s title or bust it’s going to be bust probably. As long as Porter has all of Greenville County to recruit he will be tough to beat
