Riley Staton's dad took a job in Greenville, but his family owns a house in Gaffney. That is why they left Gray. He never practiced with Greenville or Chapman.

I am curious as to how he was going to be eligible at Greenville. Did they have a house there as well?

His Grandparents are Gaffney High graduates. I think he is living with them.

That is true-always have, even before Knotts. Hunt is a transfer from New England, but he is going to be pushed hard. Offing, Smith and Knotts have grown up in the system, literally. Knotts is a coaches kid, and they always have a good football IQ; Smith is an outstanding athlete- be it QB, WR, RB, DB....he will be hard to keep off the field this season; Offing is special and will push Hunt the hardest- dual threat who already has D1 offers as a rising sophomore. That being said, I believe the DF OL and DL will be their strength this season- (that and the DBs). Where the game is won...along the line of scrimmage.

DF had NW on the regular season schedule for a while too in 2018 and 2019. Always good to play the teams from "Football City".

Not sure this is a game changer for Gaffney..we still have to replace most of out O-line..I hear the receivers and defense are a step slow…yes we needed to replace our QB, but he was what? an average 2A QB …and first he has to gain the trust and respect of the team and that’s a hard task @Gaffney..I’m sure that first game at Crest will show us something…them Chargers been pissed at us for a long time and to top it off..they more pissed about the butt whooping we put on em the time before the last one we put on em..that one hurt em bad..sorta like Byrnes in 06..

This thread is sad and funny all at the same time. Sad that a kid can and is moving high schools this much. All I was aware is the Gray, Greenville and now Gaffney. Probably left Greenville when they realized he was not a lock to play. Greenville has one of not two pretty good rising Juniors.

Not sure Gaffney is the big winner here. As a team that gets to play Gaffney this year that transfer doesn’t add any concern.

#1 pro style QB? According to whose rankings? Dad? Maybe in the 2024 class. There hasn’t been much written about the QB class of 24 in SC. The 25 class has a lot to say about that kind of hype though.

Generally sad that high school sports has become a place to drag your kid around to find a place. Gone are the days of competing with your guys. If you aren’t good enough, get better. Do the work.

Of course, I know it’s always politics…..
