I like that idea...if there were enough of them to warrant it. I would favor them playing up a classification because of those advantages. I think teams like Gray and Oceanside would find a run through Beaufort, Dillon, Clinton, Daniel, Powdersville and Camden a little stiffer than just waiting on Abbeville....in all sports. I'm not sure the transfer rule is worth the effort. I would hope ADs have more important things to consider to be honest. But making the "collegiate schools" play up one classification from their actual school population would level the field a little better.Penguin wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 4:52 pmI am in favor of placing all of the "recruiting" Schools into their own Classification so that they have no interaction with traditional High Schools with Attendance Zones. I am also in favor of moving back to the past rules regarding mandatory attendance to the School of one's residence. I am also in favor of a new rule with regards to transfers. A rule that would require a 100% approval from ALL ADs in the Classification of the intended transfer to. This would put a screeching halt to the current "my son is for sale to the highest bidder" malarkey that has put High School Athletics into such a negative spotlight and completely negated the sense of accomplishment for winning State Championships. The numbers from that article speak for themselves. 13 out of 16 State Championships in Classes 1A and 2A in the Fall Calendar year won by "statewide recruitment" schools. The pretense that these Schools are anything other than athletic showcases for the top caliber High School athletes in the state, is completely destroyed by those numbers.
It's not recruiting....it's magic. The player DF needs just...materializes. Magic...you gotta believe.Blister wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 8:48 pmIn total agreement with limiting the recruiting and private schools into their own classification. But the recruiting issue goes far beyond just those teams. There are many coaches out there that are openly recruiting to the public schools. Folks know who a lot of them are. And the ones that have that precious “magnet” label on them basically have a license to steal. And many of them do. Unfortunately, across the board, the ability to keep a kid from transferring from his zoned school, and competing coaches not tampering with that, has left the station
