As I've said before.. I'm just glad Knotts and Hodge both want this game every year.. of course it's gonna take Spartanburg playing close to perfect to consistently compete with a great Coach with a program.
I don't think Knotts plays this game just for the W.. from my understanding he respects Hodge for wanting the game something other teams want no part of. I could be wrong.

It's good for both programs. I think it might be a little holdover from the old round-robin scrimmage setting that had Irmo, Dutch Fork and Chapin- playing Spartanburg, Dorman and Union. That was back before Knotts came around.Noble Savage wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 1:26 amAs I've said before.. Their crystal ball will be tarnished as well.DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 4:51 pmIt's a game...not a battle.Victory6 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 3:12 pmInjuries are part of the game. Spartanburg limped into the playoffs with many injured players after playing a tough non-region schedule. Not to mention playing in the toughest region(2 5A) in the state. DF played some tough games early and then got healthy after playing in that weak region they're in. If they played a tough non-region schedule and then played in Region 2 5A in the regular season i doubt if they would have been that sharp in the playoffs. Remember your QB didn't injure himself, he got injured in the heat of battle. As far as predicting another blowout like the playoff game, your crystal ball will get a little tarnished.DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 12:14 pmAnd to be honest, if DFs starting QB hadn't gotten hurt early on in that game, it wouldn't have mattered ...one point or 49 points....an L is an L there, Vike. It will be in Ballentine this time too...like the playoff game.Victory6 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 10:51 amIt did the first meeting with DF last year but not the last meeting. To be honest with you if one of our WR didn't drop the wide open 2pt conversion near the end of the game the Vikings would have won the game. That last second field goal DF kicked would have left them 1pt short.DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 12:28 pmThey play Dutch Fork soon enough...have to see if that 7 on 7 title makes any difference.Victory6 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 11:25 am
Indeed it is something to be proud of and of course 7on7 is not 11on11. I will say 7on7 helps the QB and WR's get their routes and timing down pack. I've seen where a QB with zero pressure on him miss a wide open receiver in 11on11 football. Iron sharpens Iron!!![]()

Honestly?....DF went through Region 2 for the title- none of them very close. In the playoffs DF beat Spartanburg about like they did their own region. Weren't the vikes the co-region champs and lost on the head to head? Watching the games, can't tell a big difference between Lexington and Spartanburg. So you are expecting a nail-biter this time? Last time Spartanburg came to DF during the regular season it was 42-0 when Knotts called off the dogs. I'm no expert, but the experts see something in DF this season.

Spartanburg can throw and run the ball really well. Their toughest competition came in the first 3 weeks of the season. I believe this game will come down to who makes the least mistakes at the end of the game. Penalties and turnovers can also be a dividing factor in this one. I think coach Hodge will have his team ready for battle. Spartanburg gest the revenge in this one.
Spartanburg - 27
Dutch Fork - 24
