Abbeville 2023

Post by *Topcat* »

Anybody got some scoop or insight on the Panthers this year? Know we lost some great players but also have talent returning. Heard we may have a couple of transfers??? IDK. Schedule is same as last year, Westside and Powdersville will be tough. Southside Christian as well. Region is weak but we don't control that. Hopefully we will be in mix along with the usual good programs, Gray, OC, Saluda. Curious if any of the past great programs can return to prominence, like B-L, Pageland-Central, Bluff, Barnwell. Any insight on any other teams welcome. It's getting close to that time.

unless some 2 a team surprises me.
I don't think the Panthers will have
much trouble winning the championship
again. Saluda lost some good srs. but they
have a good many coming back. They had
over 80 out for spring practice. When you
have that many you are bound to have
a few good ones in the group. Only problem is
if a 2a team has 3 or 4 that are above average
the Panthers will have 8 or 10.

atown just reloading. thought nichols was taking off to the land of woodruffs, but that didn't pan out. new year same story, the road to the state championship will run thru abbeville.

strom thurmond will be much improved this season from what i've been told. saluda lost a lot but their coach always finds a way to figure things out.

whatever happens, i just hope it's a true public school that takes the title.

Pageland-Central has the athletes to take a step in the right direction from the past few down years. Going to have to replace several key linemen but if that happens then this could be a really good year!! Skill positions should be in good shape!!

Why did you think he was taking off to Woodruff? Just curious. Did he apply for the job?

Yes, he did. I know that for a fact. He was scheduled for an interview then withdrew from consideration before he did the interview.
And on the eighth day, God created the Woodruff Wolverines

Curious as to WHY he would even consider leaving A Town

Doubt they are ready to compete with top tier 2A clubs yet…but I like what new HC Josh Batchlor is doing at Blacksburg….He got the most out of his baseball teams and is already getting involved with the LL program in his transition..changed to a spread from 3 yards and a cloud of dust…always said the talent can’t just can’t dry up at Broad River..it just needs to be sought out..
