Woodruff vs Chapman 8/18/2023

Post by Wolverine_Legend »

We are all ready for an exciting year in Woodruff! It has been a long offseason for us, but lots of excitement. We love Coach Sloan and he and his staff have already implemented some awesome changes that have reignited the excitement in our kids and community. His first game as the Wolverines' head coach will be against his alma mater Chapman right out of the gate. I don't think anyone expects us to be world beaters this year. It is the youngest Woodruff team we probably have ever had. Our freshman and sophomore classes, many of them on varsity and in starting or key roles, is going to be an absolute monster in years to come. This is their season to learn, grow, mature, and perfect the schemes. Our fans understand the need to be patient. We will win our share of games, but the real fun will be in 2024 and 2025.

With that said, we are all excited to get this started against a good Chapman team. Realistically, we should be the underdog in this game. Chapman lost a lot on defense but returns its entire offense which is good as always. Woodruff only has FOUR senior starters, two on each side of the ball. It is going to be fun watching our exciting young talent blossom into a formidable team as they gain more experience.

Not going to predict a score, but I think this year, in all seriousness, you have to give the edge to Chapman. I would love to be wrong, but either way, go Wolverines!
And on the eighth day, God created the Woodruff Wolverines

I'm very hungry! Should we wager a dinner at Shealy's on this one? I will be generous and give you Chapman head up ;)
