Emerald vs. Crescent

Post by No Fly Zone »

Emerald should be able to get back on track in this one

BUT…if they don’t, I’m not sure they’ll win a game this season.

Crescent is improved this year. Emerald is really struggling.

Crescent is certainly a solid team. Not trying to take anything away from them.

Emerald just looks so down.

Emerald does not LOOK like they are well coached at all.

Both teams had penalty after penalty . Looks like the Vikings are getting worse.

I always believe in giving a new coach and his staff at least three seasons to get things right. That just hasn’t happened.

These kids seem undisciplined and uninterested. Those two traits will wreck any program.

Now they inherited quite a mess when Mac left but ALL of those kids have graduated/moved on and the coaching staff is mostly turned over.

My problem with this staff is there’s no one aside from Dubose that’s been successful anywhere. He’s assembled a crew of very nice, high character men and that is important but that culture isn’t being established.

FCA is a nice program but it’s not winning them any ball games. Basketball will be just as bad.

They’ve got zero identity on either side of the ball. They are AWFUL on special teams.

This may have been the last winnable game on their schedule. If they blank in the win column, then what?

They are not.

Who are the coordinators?

The offense is a disaster.

The defense is surprisingly undisciplined.

Special teams has at least one key mistake every game. They’ve most two games because of ST mishaps.

Is it the coaching, or that nobody can handle the kids? For years and through different coaching staffs, Emerald has had size and speed that should make for a good football team but they always seem to underachieve. Is there just a culture happening in Greenwood to where the kids are just uncoachable. Seems that folks at Greenwood are asking that same question.

For all the hate McMahon gets, his teams were consistently in the playoffs. Things just got away from him at the end when he was looking to retire.

His teams in 2014 and 2017 were really great and made deep playoff runs.

Gang culture has run rampant in Greenwood, but the right coach and staff can make a difference.
