Well, if someone would step and catch the ball reliably and the line would give Lewis more time they could throw it more. He isn't even been getting 3 seconds on average.StateChampsGHS wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:34 pmI want Liner and the assistant coaches to succeed and win championships. I'm fairly confident Liner does read it sometimes or at the very least he has some person telling him what the outside noise is talking about in the coffee shop so to speak. Like I said before, I'm not cheering for Greenwood to lose. I'm a Greenwood guy. I'm from there and I graduated there. I'll always cheer for them to win. I'm just finally accepting the fact that the "now" Greenwood isn't the "old" Greenwood. The kids out there are trying as hard as they can and busting their butts. Hell I think the coaches are too. Like some others have said it's far beyond coaching. I'm definitely not blaming Liner for The Way Greenwood is now. They were like this before Liner got here and he's just trying to put it back together like it used to be. Liner does have to bare the responsibility now just because he's the head coach. He's the one that's got to figure out how to get it back to the way it was. But the Greenwood magic left after Cathcart left. Not all at once. It happened slowly but surely. And this isn't about Cathcart. Greenwood was successful long before Cathcart was named the head coach. Maybe he saw it coming and got out of there so he wouldn't have to take the blame lol. Who knows. I'm just saying since 2012 Greenwood has only had one team with a legitimate chance to win a state championship. That was the 2021 team. That 21 team lost to the eventual state champion southpointe. The 21 team was basically the only team that fully upheld the Greenwood tradition and standards by winning region and making a deep run in the playoffs. The team this year is nowhere near that. Hopefully they will figure out how to get there.eagle93 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 9:30 amWell darn! Liner needs to be reading this stuff. I'm not putting too much energy into it these days. If they win I'll enjoy them, if it's a loss I'm not going to dwell on that. I have too much other stuff going on. In the end it is a game.GwoodEagle2k1 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 7:20 amGreenwood will "probably" win this one. I mean it's berea though so yah know..... Whoop dee doo! State champ ghs is right though. Line up in five wide. Hell I say throw It 95% of the time. Pretty much Greenwood, Berea, Pickens, and Easley are all fighting for third place in the region which means a chance at a first round win and an ass whipping to close the season in the second round. No different than last year. So who's the best of the four bottom dwelling mediocre teams in the region under Greenville and Westside? The quest begins Friday night. Greenwood might have a chance to win that. 3rd place in the region. We'll see

I have to agree with you. Good comment! I disagree. Pippin had at least a couple of teams capable of getting to state but fell short. One year losing to York in the semis whom Spartanburg beat the following week for the title. Greenwood beat that same Spartanburg team earlier in the regular season at Greenwood. But in fairness to Spartanburg, I think Feaster didn't play in that game. There was another year they had Boiling Springs on the ropes in Boiling Springs. It was playoffs. Greenwood got conservative and Boiling Springs rallied back and won. Guess who went on the win the title? Boiling Springs. Greenwood was also the last team to beat Dutch Fork in the regular season in SC until they got beat this year. Those were all Pippin teams. He had more talent than what Liner has had. Sam Pinckney, Dre Yarbough, Kaleb Chalmers, the DB that got a scholarship to Clemson and later transferred to a junior college before coming back to go play fot South Carolina. And that's just a short list. He just had more talent to work with. Just couldn't get consistent and gradually got worse the longer he was there. None of Liners teams matched that talent. Not even 2021.GwoodEagle2k1 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 7:29 amI'm fairly confident Liner does read it sometimes or at the very least he has some person telling him what the outside noise is talking about in the coffee shop so to speak. Re: Greenwood vs Berea 9/29/23
Eagle 93,
That 2021 team was tough and had the best shot at winning state since 2012. Remember, we beat a good Catawba Ridge team twice, Hillcrest, a solid Greenville team which produce two players to Clemson and one potential player to USC (Brown, Sapp and Bennett) and only lost to South Pointe by 10 points which won state. South Pointe was loaded as always and a good coach (Coach Holloman who played at USC). The QB for Catawba Ridge is highly committed to Michigan even though he transferred out. We played a heavy loaded Dutch Fork team which was nationally ranked and full of D1 talent.
Not taking anything away from the Pippin teams but I think the 2021 team was mentally and physically prepared vs the Pippin teams.

They were not more talented. Just boring grind it out offense and teams couldn't stop the run. About like Greenwood is doing as of late. Can't stop the run. They did work hard, but they weren't more individually talented. I know some of us don't want to admit it because some didn't like Pippin. He even had lineman he believed himself were good enough to make it to the highest level. But they ended up transferring to Emerald. A school that seems to never do much with the talent it gets from Greenwood.StateChampsGHS wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 2:06 amEagle 93,
