Re: 96 @ Blacksburg
What did the coaches from BB say to the refs right before halftime ? whatever it was it probably cost them a TD…

3 would be my guess. No Fly Zone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 11:12 amHow many seasons do you think Bennett will hang around if he’s successful?
Re: 96 @ Blacksburg
I stayed until halftime..I think the ref was awful quick with the flag on the first one..I have seen coaches at the 5a level get by with more than that..unless certain words were used…pretty sure those certain words were used on the 2nd one..

I think Blacksburg would be Better off with Cobb Kid (wr#3) in the slot..he not involved enough at wide out..he’s a big target in over the middle routes..
That RB from 96 #26 I think was the best player on the field …good looking athlete for any level..

Congrats to 96 on the win. I feel like the two teams were pretty evenly matched, and agree 96 made a couple more plays. Good luck to the 96 Wildcats the rest of the season. Both teams are gonna be tough outs.

Referees:
There is a dearth of referees at the high school level. With that comes all the bad calls....... real, 'homered', or missed.
We all could help solve this problem:
- Stop complaining/yelling/disparaging referees ad nauseam. There was only 1 perfect man in this world and they hung him on a cross.
- Start encouraging those players whose careers will end after the 12th grade to continue being a part of the sport and being meaningful contributors by becoming a referee.
A high school ref might make $50/game, but if he works hard he could also move up to college level ball games and make $150-$5000/game depending on level. Hades there is a local (Upstate) ref who made it to the NFL and makes over $1,000,000 a year just doing the regular season.
Regardless of that, the game will not go on without referees; we need them.
and no I'm not a referee.

He just didn’t move up to the NFL through being a ref…a Wofford graduate with a good education he went in to banking and while moving up:the referee said ranks…he was also moving up the the ladder in the banking industry eventually becoming a VP of a bank …So he was well off finance before being hired by the NFL…it takes work on both sides to reach that level..Rick has also worked at least 2 superbowls …He was the QB at Blacksburg in his HS days..
I agree with you on the need for more referees …for those who go to college on a football scholarship..take the education seriously, officiating can be a nice side career…Lord knows we need more with athletic abilities..
