I went to this game, as a neutral “casualfan”,,, and I gotta say, it was very sloppy for a week 10 game. Normally you don’t see all the false starts, encroachment type fouls by 2 teams in the last regular season game. Very sloppy,…. Hard to blame officials for stuff like that. I actually thought it was a very well officiated game, just as a neutral observer.

After we had made it 27-21 and got the turnover,I’m still scratching my head this am on why we chose to throw the ball 3 straight times. :? wasn’t there like 5 minutes left..I personally would have leaned on y’all with 2…but I’m only a fan :( should have known it was gonna be a long night when we fumbled away the first play…you not gonna fare well when you have 5 turnovers..

I know some of the Rebel faithful were questioning Shaw earlier this year..I think he earned your support last night..He had Gaffney scouted well and the players executed his game plan..

Sometimes I think the white hat knows he is mic’d up for Gaffney games and wants to be heard on the radio..anyone else have that set up on their radio broadcast? The 2 tds you had called back.. who knows..holding can be called on most plays..

Looking at the projected bracket, the potential 2nd round match up with Clover concerns me..I don’t know much about them..never thought they would beat RH like a drum..

Guess I can take solace in the fact that weather turns cold next …

Again congrats…well deserved win…hope to see ya again.. :D

You wouldn't happen to be an "official" would you? Just asking for a friend...
Key words like "neutral" and "casual"....might as well throw in "metro-sexual"....

Have no dog in the fight, but as far as the officials they might have actually had a crew that actually called the game as it should be' as officiating has gotten worse across the board many teams have gotten used to the refs rarely throwing a flag. Then when they run up on a crew that actually calls a game like it should be they can't adjust

I'm a neutral fan as well [DANG, that lightening bolt was really close!!!!] but I think the fact that so much was on the line with a Region Championship, #1 Seed, beating a HUGE rival, two absolutely top grade teams where any mistake could be magnified by 100 times and not to mention a crazy person blasting an air horn as you are trying to hear the signals (affecting both teams) factors in to that "SLOPPY" play..

I'm just saying...

TOTAL HONESTY TIME: I HAVE NEVER BEEN A FOOTBALL OFFICIAL BUT I'VE OFFICIATED BASKETBALL AT SEVERAL LEVELS AND SOFTBALL AT SEVERAL LEVELS.

It appeared to me that a couple of the officials last night (back judge for one) were really quick to toss a flag and as others have pointed out, you can probably call a penalty on every play of the game; however, in every training session that I attended over those years, the most important thing was "do not be the star of the show" was stressed. When you call something, let it be something that "needed to be called" not "could be called".

The back judge tossed several flags 15 to 20 yards away while the officials right beside the play didn't.

I listened to the broadcast...they said one of the refs threw a flag that sailed for 40 yards. Even talk of a Heisman. They literally said his arm would be sore today.
Like....he "wound" up for a pitch on the mound....

I know exactly which one he threw that they’re talking about. It was the same back judge too, he was standing around the 15 and the play was happening at around the 40.

I did see the hold on that particular play..it was on our linebacker up around the line of scrimmage…but that one who called was a long away a way..doubt he would he would have made the play, but it was a clear hook …

Nah, no thanks on that one. Officiating is a THANKLESS job for sure. No way in hell that I would want to do the job that those guys and gals do. Think about it. Fans are the first ones to start chirping about the officiating. They love to hammer those zebras with everything they got. Nevermind the interceptions that were thrown. Nevermind the fumbles that happened. What about about all the missed tackles and blown assignments??? Nope, its the ZEBRA'S fault... No way I'd want THAT job.....

But as a neutral observer..... I truly thought those guys did a decent job last night. Especially the white hat. I love it when they have a microphone on. And it's even better when the guy or gal using it actually communicates well with what is happening. Like last night when they called HURDLING.... I don't even know what that is. But the white hat explained it perfectly and the fact that Byrnes was taking the 15 yard penalty on the kickoff. Which means.... (I guess) that they COULD have taken the points off the board, 1/2 the distance, and then tried for the TD instead of settling for a FG....

Most of all,,,, I just love football. And this is the best time of year. The playoffs are going to be STELLAR......
