Boiling Springs vs Dutch Fork

Post by DFOLDMAN »

Tough first round game for the Silver Foxes. One game at a time. Have to wait and see how it goes. DF has been playing a little better these last few weeks. Hopefully, TK will have them ready.

If the Bulldogs have their QB back 100% they could be a very tough opponent as he is a game changer. Not a 5 star prospect, but he is a quick, and smart QB that didn't make mistakes against the Rebels. I was very impressed with his ability to make something out of nothing..... the old "Chicken Salad out of Chicken XXXX"

Tough losses fill the schedule. They played Hillcrest and T L Hanna close in early games and also took Dorman to the last minute of the 4th quarter before giving up a touchdown with just seconds to play. Byrnes was a 2 OT loss and against Gaffney, at the Reservation, I believe, it was 9-7 Gaffney in the 4th quarter and the Bulldogs had a turnover and the Injuns converted it to a TD and a two point conversion for a 17-7 win. This team is just a couple of plays away from being 8-2 or better. They could be a tough out for anyone in the bracket.

Dutch Fork should be the favorite and with all the fan support, history, etc, I would have to give the Foxes the nod in the pick 'em; however, I would not be shocked if this game is closer than the 13 points that Doodles projected and MUCH closer than the 42-7 that Massey projected. https://masseyratings.com/hsf/sc/games

Now, if the Dutch Fork of the past few years shows up Friday night, anything is possible with TK and Dutch Fork and I know that is what you are hoping for....

I'm not gonna sit here and say I think Dutch Fork will lose or even come close to losing. I see this being a 24-7 type of game in favor of the Silver Foxes.

Hmmm....guys, Imma say this. And here it is in writing...BS ain't no joke. That quarterback is good. I actually think they pull this one off.

Depends as said above on the QB for BS..other than the Byrnes, they gave the Indians the most trouble in Region play..

Besides their QB being a "player".. just like every team in Region 2, Their defense is good, linebackers play very well, good solid defensive backs and they are well coached.

If this game was at Boiling Springs it would be tempting to go since Spartanburg plays on Thurs.
There is something about Dutch Fork, it's Dark and the smell of all the teams that have lost there makes the air thick.

I really hope Boiling Springs fans will make that trip. They deserve the support.

Reel has done an excellent job at BS. Saw a post above about the importance of the play of the BS QB. And DF May be the best defense that BS will face all year. But I think it may be the other way around The QB from DF doesn’t always make the best decisions and will throw an interception in a minute trying to throw into windows that aren’t there. I know this has to drive Knotts crazy. If he just takes the east pass DF should win this game, but if he gives BS a couple gifts it could be close

Knotts has done Dutch Fork right, I have to admit. Years ago on a similar board when I was living abroad, I told Slick and JB and the lot that there was more talent walking the halls at DF than any place around...just had to get it on the field and coach it up. They made fun of me when I said that...called me mean names...said I was dumb...I cried a little I think...then Knotts showed up.

I expected good things, but DF got great things instead. 159-27-1 in 14 seasons.
This season has been the oddest one for him...tough schedule...injuries, etc... even though they are far from a favorite this season, the DF faithful never count ole TK out. May not be their year but they won't go down without a tussle.

Colby, I didn't see the game or much video on it but from what I have been reading, the BS QB is the real deal and played his heart out in that game; he just didn't have much help. Was running for his life most of the night. DE Josh Smith sacked him 3 times himself (Smith is going to be a P5 player when he graduates- junior this season, I believe). DF QB Jon Hunt settled down and had a good game 8-11 for 208 yards and 3 TDs, all in the first half- I think Ethan Offing played most of the second half at QB. Looks like BS got the Tom Knotts "speed bag" treatment and couldn't quite recover. DF defense will keep them in most games, just been waiting on the offense to get healthy and find their rhythm. DF seemed to play well in all facets this game- offense, defense and special teams.

On to TL Hanna next. Good team- one that I have pointed to. Not sure how they seem to always lose to Westside of late. In the past, DF stylistically is a tough match up for Hanna, but this year is new territory for DF- just have to see if the improved DF stays improved this coming week. Tough game. Just have to wait and see.

Oldman, I wasn't pulling against yall when I picked BS, I was merely going by what has played out up until this game. Boiling Springs gave us a fit...and yall have been struggling. Sounds like yall reached down and ground that extra gear in...right when it counts. Good job Foxes.
