Trying to compare one era to another is waste of time. And segregation has nothing to do with that either.

Anyone in the 1970s in the shotgun was thought of as simply trying to mimic the Dallas Cowboys. Anyone today running the Wishbone has to defend their offense at every booster club meeting. If some team did today what Alabama did when they busted out the Wishbone in 1971 and had some decent talent, they'd run through their schedule like Shi'ite through a goose. Just like if you could teleport Mike Leech back to the 1960s and run the Air Raid.

Go look at those eras when those offenses and others came onto the scene, those offenses dominated, and then defenses adapted. The Single Wing was put out of existence by the 6-2 defense long before Brown v. Board, and 10 years from now on Friday night you'll be watching your team run something that looks nothing like what you saw last week.

On top of that, coaches are just as different. Appreciate each for what they do/have done and quit doing the 'my coach has a bigger **** than yours' shtick. You sound like those idiot fans beside you in the stands during the game.

Taking pride in your program means you don't have to defend it from the outside.

Bruh calm down 😂. It’s a simple friendly back and forth.. What these boards are for.. We aren’t the ones who sound like an idiot here. I am obviously a Daniel Lion so no i’m not arguing “my coach anything.” You seem like a joy to be around my friend!

Damn Wood.....tell us how you really feel. Well spoken brother.
Ignore him, Wood. Colby is off his meds too. I‘ll wait until when or if Knotts wins 10 SC state titles then revisit this thread.

Like the Spartanburg newspaper high school sports journalist said about Knotts coming to SC to coach that he would never replicate the success he had in NC because the competition is too tough…

The results truly speak for themselves...# of titles/years coached = % of titles....put that ratio up against any of theirs

Retirement? Best ever coach in 2 states now. Please give our state back to us mortals!
Tom Knotts is NOT a better coach in this state than John McKissick, Willie Varner, Shell Dula, Keith Richardson, or Pinky Babb.

Just stop.

What makes Knotts so good? I've seen really good coaches not ever sniff a state title or only get one. How has he been able to be so successful? Was told he is a genius at finding matchups and scheming for opponents. What else does he do different than everyone else? What is his recipe? It's extremely impressive what he has been able to accomplish. If i hit the lottery, i'd pay him cash to coach ST and get us 5 titles in a row!

He’s got my vote for best in the state right now…his system must work judging off of white knolls success this year..

I can only imagine what he could do with the talent we have in Gaffney..

My opinion after finally seeing DF in person against Gaffney is he's kind of like Saban or Belichick type coach. You can tell by watching him his mind is constantly working regardless if they're on defense, offense, ST, etc. He was getting after his team the whole game and he seems to keep them calm. He comes across as an Ahole but the kids will play for him. He's got one job, win football games and he's very good at doing such. I am surprised that a coach of his caliber and his body of work has not taken a chance at a lower college program like PC, Limestone, etc. He must like it at DF.

I think Knotts enjoys being the absolute king of his kingdom at DF. Don’t think he would want to make the same mistake Bentley made when he took the PC job.

Hell he played and coached at Duke and that job just opened. I'd think he'd have a decent shot at it with his Duke connections.

He’s one heck of a coach! Took Dutch Fork from nothing to one of the greatest football programs in the state. I just heard him say it all starts new again in 2 weeks. They hit the weight room and prepare for next year.
