135 DAY AMD for 2014 Class 4A

Post by Dave Pickren »

Got the raw numbers earlier this week. These are always a pain to deal with and actually go through school by school.
West Ashley can not be right. I find it hard to believe they have lost that many students in 1 year.
Wando over 3600 is amazing. The school is becoming a total outliners with regards to student populations. By my count I think Wando is the largest school in the history of SC.
Spartanburg continues to shrink, the same as we have seen and will continue to see. By 2019 I see Spartanburg under 1600. There is a very good chance Spartanburg will be 3A in less than a decade.
Northwestern continues to gain students back after the split 8 years ago. Northwestern should squarely be back in Division 1 playoffs this season.

1 WANDO 3670.84 1 GAINED
2 DORMAN 3194.74 2 GAINED

Here you go...
https://ed.sc.gov/data/student-counts/S ... counts.cfm

You have to do a specific google search for this page to appear. :( :?

Bluffton's enrollment according to the info they provide should put them at 1600.

476 - 9th Grade at H.E. McCracken Middle School. (correct ?)
454 - 10th Grade at Bluffton High
352 - 11th Grade at Bluffton High
318 - 12th Grade at Bluffton High

Posting info to a forum has the advantage that it encourages feedback and comments. I'll be posting my incomplete 4A schedules soon for the same reason, people will fill-in the gaps and find the errors. :D

Due to an attendance line change effective this year Carolina Forest will drop around 200 students and Conway will gain that same 200 back.

That makes it even more likely that those good teams just below the cut will move up. :D

Sparty, Did the State Dept of Education make adjustments to the ADM numbers reported by the district?

I won't pretend to understand the techno-babble of the professional educrats, but I know they have specific methods and formulas to calculate Membership, Head-Count and Enrollment. I believe "membership" will be the lowest number as it requires more than just the student being there.

It's always fun to compare the State Dept of Education numbers to those reported by SCHSL after they make their "adjustments". If anyone is making political adjustments, I believe it's the HSL.

Look on the bright side, if this holds true, Spartanburg could find themselves in the D-II bracket. :D
