Ended up at Westside the other day for a game and saw this banner in their gym for football state championships. Is this accurate?

I went to 3 different championship lists
Only one that shows up is 1969
The 3 that the central lions won in the 40s/50s actually have more legitimacy towards Daniel’s championship total

So Daniel has 11 titles now
Only behind
Gaffney 18
Summerville 12
Abbeville 12
Tied with Byrnes

I’m good with it
Everyone claim every title out there

I think full integration didn't happen until somewhere around 1970.

So (if i'm not mistaken), some of those championships would be from Westside's years in the African-American high school league.

That banner is correct, last State was 1969 .

Yes these were won before integration of schools

Before this year the last time Westside played in a State Championship was 1987 w Coach Ted Luckadoo

was George Webster 1963 grad.
played at Michigan State .played 10
years in the pros. passed away in 2007.

There’s a program nearby that has something to say about that. Adding a couple of malcontents doesn’t make a team better .
