Who did MVP get from Chapman?
You remember their stud receiver from a few years ago, DJ Black, that walked on at South Carolina? It is his little brother. Rising senior. He had 11 catches for 88 yards all of last season but played primarily DB. Assuming he will play both ways at MVP.
And on the eighth day, God created the Woodruff Wolverines

This is a difficult one for me....

If my grandchild was offered an opportunity to attend a school that could better prepare them for college and life, and oh by the way, had a good football program, I would want them to attend that school. I'm not saying Chapman and Woodruff are not good schools; but they are smaller public schools while the MVP school will have SUPPOSEDLY a program that is geared toward getting kids ready for top colleges. Public schools have a lot of kids who are there only because they have to be and have no desire to do more than the minimum, if that.
The kid we lost had never played a varsity snap at Woodruff. He transferred in last year and had to play sub varsity as a sophomore.

And MVP is awful. They do not prepare anyone for college. Those charter schools are nothing but false promises and snake oil. They use kids as a means to an end.
I wasn't speaking to MVP in particular as I've not researched any of these new schools, I was just referring to the general idea of Private Schools and Public Schools. I'm all for putting them in their own Region, Classification for athletics. As for the "RECRUITING" I think that it is way too late to close the barn door as the horses have already escaped and they are running down the street.
I think that is one way or just put them all in the big 5A.

And I ask, does that solve the issue or just move it? There are some 5A schools that have enough trouble competing now, why punish them even further?

The problem is they play by different rules, so they should play against schools that have the same rules. Moving them up a classification or even moving them all the way to 5A is not the answer.

Why not move them up, the big schools didn't care when the privates/charters were rolling the smaller schools.

And tell me what could those big schools could have done to make the situation any different?

I think if they are going to do something, they should make it a solution, not just shift it to another place.

I doubt they could do much. My rather poorly made point was when it affected the As and AAs, the AAAAs/Big 16s didn't really care, especially if it wasn't football.

I couldn't find the listing on the SCHSL website (b/c it sucks donkey) for past champions, but Bishop England won something like 18-20 straight volleyball championships. Nobody started knocking down BE for that, but when they started winning in football..... whoa Nelly.

I always said that when these 'different' schools starting winning in football and it affects the bigger schools, then something would happen.

I also must say that I have also said these 'different' were okay. I'm not defending underhanded stuff, but I do think that 20th century schooling is a thing of the past and having choices is always a good thing.

Nobody complains when a good football (or baseball, basketball, etc...) leaves one school for greener pastures.....

okay, went to their website

BE VB has won 28 state championships total between 1977 and 2017 and played for 7 more, with streaks of 2, 3, 2, and 18.

That's 40 years of dominance.

Woodruff girls soccer played BE for state in 2007 and 2008 and lost 1-0 and 5-1. Our volleyball team played BE for state in 2010 and also lost. So yes our hate for BE is very real too.
