Never ceases to amaze me the distain for Coach Knotts...started day 1...even before day 1 when it became public that he was coming to Dutch Fork. I can't recall if it was the Rock Hill or Spartanburg newspaper but one of their reporters wrote a piece about how Tom Knotts (paraphrasing here) "would never be able to replicate the huge success he experienced in North Carolina, because the competition is tougher in South Carolina and the coaches are better." ...something like that. Fourteen years at DF...played in 11 of the last 12 state title games winning 8...including 8 consecutive title games with 7 titles during these last 8 seasons....back to back titles currently.
Not sure if the SC sports media are just haters, doubters, deniers or simply ignoramuses or some combination of all that... back to back state titles with the the vast majority of the roster returning and they rank them 5th, even Doodle has them behind Mann (Mann losses basically all of their offense and now they are even better....guess it's all of that talent they keep "stealing" from Greenville High...and all the Red Raiders' trove of recent state titles that talent has won them...oh, wait a minute...)....I guess Coach Zippy Whateverhisnameis at Mann is just better than Knotts... Everyone else around the Southeast and Nationally think DF is best team in SC...just not our sports experts...amazing.
Keep hatin' SC sports media, but just remember what the poll reads after Championship weekend...

Come on!....Summerville back in the day?...seriously? TK invented it? Ole Coach John had checked that block years and years ago. Yeah, we have some "out of towners" show up...a few QBs etc...(Pot, say hello to the kettle)... but none of this was new or even remotely new. And if you had read my posts way back when on another site, I told people straight up that Dutch Fork High School had more talent walking the halls year in and year out than any school in the state. Just needed the right coach to get it on the field and coach them up....and I got untold horse manure over that statement. It's a burden, Mikey....always being right....lol
