He was at West Florence last year and Florence has open enrollment in the district so he is probably good. Although it is a weak move on his part as it’s his 3rd school now and he moved to a better team when he transferred from SCISA and his short and t shirt talent didn’t translate to big boy football. Had offers based off playing middle schoolers in SCISA like the Dillon QB. Then couldn’t get it done with good talent around them so looking to build a super team of Merceries so they can ride the coattails to scholarships. No loyalty. Don’t give a shit about their teams or teammates or coaches although they love to say it on social media when they leave. If I’m a college coach I have no interest as kid will hit the portal the second he doesn’t get his way. Unless he is a generational talent, I’m not interested. And these guys aren’t that talented with pads on or they’d be leading the teams where they actually live to championships instead of transferring to ready made teams where they can pad their stats. It’s 180 degrees away from what a coach would tell you he actually wants because it’s mentally weak and shows no loyalty or appreciation for those who supported them.Wildcat #1 fan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 7:59 pmSf not playing any games. I see tre leonard is now on their roster. One of the top rbs in the state
Let me know when you find out the family reasons that they had to move to Florence, SC. There isn’t one other than turning HS football which used to be about community into another form of business. If they are legit moves, even for the wrong reasons, great…Marlowe is a great recruiter but certainly not a great football coach.
If the moves aren’t legit bonafide moves, it’s gonna take quite the conspiracy from the principal on down who is required to verify eligibility based on residency. Watching these things unfold is always so predictable because you can’t keep everyone happy. Eventually the people who live in the town even turn on the program as their talented athletes get pushed out for “move ins” due to “family reasons.” That’s why these “super talented” coaches always leave pretty quick. It’s not sustainable when you don’t develop your own talent.
Anyways, as said, new region does know where these guys live and HS kids aren’t great at keeping secrets, especially when blinded by selfish aspirations. Tax records, phone bills, parole/probation records addresses (yep for parents), etc. don’t lie. Lack of a bonafide move is basically impossible to cover up in society today. Florence District 1 may find out this season just how difficult. Those region coaches playing by the rules have families to feed too. They ain’t gonna just stay quiet and lose their job for losing while playing it straight.
