I've been saying for a while that football "regions" should be different from other sports. Heck, the way football is classified should be different. Abbeville will win the region, I wouldn't be shocked if the average margin is 60+ to 0. That's no fun for anybody.
Agreed. There has to be a better way. I can somewhat understand if one believes Abbeville should not have to compete against perennial 3A schools like Clinton and Chester, though we certainly can in football. We have played and beaten both in recent memory. But we should NOT be playing Calhoun Falls, Whitmire, etc. We should be classified with Saluda, B-L, 96, etc.

There is absolutely no way Abbeville should be playing Calhoun Falls or Whitmire. Other than Lewisville (maybe, if they are what they have been recently) I don't see a team in 1A that can stay within 40 of the Panthers. As soon as I saw the 1A thing, my first words were "Well there's your 1A champions until they move stuff around."

But let's face it, the SCHSL has no real interest in doing what's best for anybody but the suits sitting off of Fernandina Rd in Columbia.

This would definitely be our last go around in 2AA ball the biggest class at AHS is the senior class this year. The 7th and 8th are smaller classes than some at the high school now. I feel bad for a kid trying to put great tape out. Everyone knows our coaches will not blister people 80 to 0. Also they love to save some for later gonna hurt all the seniors looking to put out great highlights. Only positive thing they did was save gas money since the region so close. The gates gonna suck because we only get Whitmire and Ware Shoals at home. We go to Dixie, Calhoun Falls and McCormick after they switched the schedule around after the Thornwell drop. JV Football has the strongest schedule I've ever seen for Abbeville Football. We are preparing for the future with that schedule

I know yalls coaches won't try to beat anybody 80-0, but there may be games where short of taking a knee or punting on 1st down it may happen. Some of those schools 1st string isn't up to yalls 3rd and 4th.

Can't say you aren't wrong been like that in the region for the last couple years. This year the playoffs gonna be bad. The fellas are hungry and excited either way. They will community support regardless.

The worst part of it, is that we appealed not once but twice for this mess. We could have played AA this year and next. They will realize the error in judgement as the season moves along. When people don't show due to very poor competition, it not only hurts gate but also concessions. When there is a mass exit at halftime, more concessions lost. But hey, we save on gas money. I have bought my usual Booster Club package, but, I'm sure to miss some of these snoozer games. That is not normal for me.

I'm not a fan of our region at all. Fox Creek, Silver Bluff, Keenan and Swansea. Not seeing any gate games there either. Maybe Silver Bluff. I'll probably go to the Keenan game just because I know some of their staff and some of my former students are on the team. I miss when regions meant something, when you built rivalries with schools. Not anymore. We ended Silver Bluff's 30 game win streak my senior year, so maybe that means something, but that was over 20 years ago. Never played Fox Creek, and I don't know the last time Swansea had a decent team.

I don't think Swansea has been heard from since they won 3 straight AA Titles in 92-93-94. We beat them in 91 for AA Div II Title.

I know Abbeville would beat us, but I still wished they were on our schedule. I love playing against the best, regardless of the outcome.
