South Florence holds off rival West in back-and-forth thriller
Justin Driggers | SCNow.com

With Gilbert down with a hamstring issue, Raleigh Jett lined up first to tote the rock for South. But after two plays, he had to give way to Tre Leonard – the former Trinity Collegiate standout who played for WFHS last season.

Leonard got the first points of the game on a 23-yard touchdown run just before halftime as the Bruins went up 7-0. But he too was bitten by the injury bug on the first play of the third quarter and did not return.

Enter James, a sophomore, who wound up carrying the load for South in the second half and coming up big in the process.

Hopefully our running backs' injuries are not serious, or our non-region games are going to be a real challenge.
