Since it seems there was no gun, it was probably what has been happening around a lot of schools at football games.

Young kids get dropped off by parents for 'free' baby sitting for a couple of hours and are unsupervised. Then some middle school double digit IQ kids think it will be funny to yell, "GUN!" and take off running...... just to get some giggles and something to post to social media.

We have went to a adult supervision policy requirement in dd2 as well as metal detectors .saw them in Charlotte years ago was like wow really now it's required. Sad days .
When caught fighting or other bs at games it's high time youth be held accountable. Real punishment.
Juvenile detention. Expulsion to a behavioral school facility. Strict probation when released .accountability.
If home training won't work then measures need to be taken .
We need to turn the tide .it's been let go far to long .
That's why we are where we are.

There is a reason I don’t attend games very often anymore. I don’t want to deal with the kids running around doing stupid crap, and take a chance on some idiot getting his little feelings hurt and shooting into a crowd.

When Newberry was redoing the stadium, I made a comment they should add luxury boxes. People thought I was joking, but I would pay to be in a luxury box with the people I wanted to be in there. I stayed at the game last night until halfway through the 3rd, by then I’d had enough of people going up and down the bleachers, standing in the aisles, crowds of middle school kids just running around, and the crowds just standing around. That will probably be the only game I attend this season.

I think you are probably right justafan. And if this is true I hope the truth comes out and they have to answer for the damage they caused. Injuries did occur as people were frantically trying to exit the stands.

BINGO! I'll go a step further, make them show a student ID to get in or scan themselves in. I think at Pville they aren't allowing drop offs or at least the kids have to have an adult with them, can't remember. I'm down on the field so I don't see alot of what's going on. I'm also of the belief that we do away with the whole keeping juveniles names and images under wraps. If they're old enough to post on social media their identity and don't shy away from people knowing who they are then their names and faces should be shown when they get in trouble. Maybe public humiliation will wake up some of these adults and remind them they are responsible for their kids.

Similar incident at the 2018 Irmo vs Dutch Fork game at DF. Was the start of the 4th quarter and the game was well over as DF was up 58-0. I blame it on social media (and society)...I watched it spread like a virus across the stadium as people saw it on their social media. Was sitting with my neighbor and his daughter when "shots fired at DF stadium" and people started running and teams left the field, and his daughter became panicked and distraught at what she been reading on her social media. I stayed put in my seat as people started leaving and I told my neighbor no shots had been fired. No one in that stadium had been around and heard more gunfire than me, and there had been no shots audible remotely close. That didn't matter as it was on social media so it was gospel. Long story short....I was right (shocker). The police had detained a rowdy fan and apparently he had mumbled as he sat on the sidewalk by the stadium in cuffs, that he "ought to go home and get his gun"...some kid heard it...posted it on social media and it got twisted and changed to "shots fired"...like the game where you whisper a line to the person next to you and it goes around the room and it comes back completely different.

Why I don't have social media....SCPrepTalk is my social media I guess...sad world we live in sometimes.

Social Media is a good bit of the reason. The schools these days have their own non-affiliated Bar Stool pages. They're ran by anonymous students. Some know who they are and take it in stride. They are knockoffs of social media sites and all they do is talk trash to each other. Sometimes they get very personal and it can and has spilled over into the stands, the field, parking lots, etc. Worst part is most of them are ran and maintained by kids that aren't athletes or even current students. They don't care because there are no consequences for someone hiding behind a screen name.

So true, some kid going to be a "man" by pulling a gun and shooting randomly and innocent people are injured or even killed because of total stupidity.

I agree! Several folks I know say they would attend if they could avoid the "people going up and down the bleachers, standing in the aisles, crowds of middle school kids just running around, and the crowds just standing around." And the worst part, it really doesn't matter where you sit because it happens all over the place!

The Summerville-Stratford game has been called due to an incident at halftime. Summerville was up 28-14 and I guess this will be the final score.

Reportedly someone pulled out a gun (he didn’t shoot) but they could not find him. They sent everyone home after that
So is this a game or not? They kept saying "cancelled" so is Summerville 1-0 or 0-0?
