Of course ALL Region games are Big games, but these are some of the ones that I think stand out.
Region 2
Spartanburg at Dorman
Can SPARTY knock off the CAVS in this inner city Rivalry?
Should be plenty of points scored in this one.
Region 3
Gaffney at York
Believe it or not, with a win Gaffney could be setting up a HUGE season ending battle with Northwestern.
Can York refocus after a disappointing performance last week against Northwestern?
2nd place in the Region is on the line for York.
Region 5
North Augusta at Lexington
Lexington shocked North Augusta last year... Can they do it again.
Lexington and White Knoll appear to be the only threats to North Augusta in Region 5.
Region 6
South Florence at Sumter
This match-up has been anticipated since the end of last season.
Defending Region Champ vs. 4A Div.1 State Finalist
Does anybody in Region 6 have anything for South Florence?
Sumter appeared to be the obvious answer to that question heading into the season but they are coming off of disappointing performances in their last two games. Sumter has had two weeks to prepare for SF, we'll see if they introduce some new wrinkles to catch SF off guard.
Region 8
Fort Dorchester at Summerville
This should be the game of the year in Region 8.
Can Fort D come into McKissick's house and grab control of the Region?

Some say we lost to the only really good opponent we've faced, Friday night will tell the tale.EHSMeanGreen wrote:Does anybody in Region 6 have anything for South Florence?
Some think Socastee might win the region their first year in 4A, but again, have they been challenged yet? They face Carolina Forest and Conway (again) before finishing up with WF, SF and Sumter.

Unless the brackets prevent it, I am thinking a Dorman -vs- Dutch Fork rematch in Columbia...EHSMeanGreen wrote:Of course ALL Region games are Big games, but these are some of the ones that I think stand out.

or if the brackets work out, Thanksgiving Weekend to see who goes to Columbia.
Northwestern, slow start aside, is now in the cat-bird seat for the Region.... "JUST WIN, BABY!" and I think they will win out... unless something happens to Dupree. That young man does everything, I think he even sells popcorn at halftime after Marching with the band...EHSMeanGreen wrote:Region 3

Every year, there seems to be one Region that no one is paying attention to... this year it seems to be Region 5.EHSMeanGreen wrote: Region 5

It all depends on which Summerville team shows up.... one of the most up and down teams this season has been the Green Wave. TOP FIVE team one week, and then they look like the Gamecocks the next week.EHSMeanGreen wrote: Region 8

I'm going out on a limb and say 74's region 6 bracket will be turned upside down Friday night. Conway over WF, Sumter over SF, and CF over Socastee. Not that I really want that to happen but it wouldn't surprise me.

After seeing Gaffney win the State Title in the same season that they lost to Wade Hampton, anything is possible.
I for one never doubt Gaffney's ability to turn it around.
How will the RB injury affect this year's Gaffney team?

Hate that for that young man.

I understand man. I think that the injury won't affect us to bad we have our back up that stepped up and got 119 yards and that was only through half the game. I hope that the RB can be motivation to turn things around and go win the region for him and hey make a run for a state title for him since he is a senior

I'm serious. It wouldn't surprise me. You should know by now that any and everything happens in region 6.

Of the three, I think that CF over Socastee is the least likely. The other two games really could go either way depending on which teams show up and execute, how the ball bounces and the direction of the stupid yellow flags.Tigerific wrote:I'm serious.
