Anyone have any idea of the number of tickets sold the last time it was at USC.? How much Clemson,USC,State charge in rent? I’m sure it cost a good bit more to open up Williams Brice or that lucky azz Orange teams cow pasture as compared to SC State.. would be interesting to know…WolverineLegend should file a FOIA request. He’s a part time journalist..
Considering it's a state funded school.they can be good stewards. Just charge for labor maybe ?
We pay for most everything anyway .plus a recruiting advantage.

2011 game at Memorial Stadium was rent free, just costs.
The problem with Willy B is the parking. USuC doesn't own the parking lot, the Fair Ground Association does. So there's that bugaboo.
The Low State doesn't want to go to Clemson b/c you know it's a 4 hour drive for the game of your life that is SUCH an issue.
Of course the Upstate could return the favor by going down the next year to the Citadel or CoastaL, but then that would be logical.
Benedict is a nightmare for parking b/c they can't physically handle the parking in the time span of back to back games. SC St is just.... meh.
There's no perfect remedy that checks all the boxes. Plus the stupid 5A+ plan just makes a bigger headache to try and have everything all at one venue. Also, we can complain about the decisions made a 121 Westpark Boulevard, but in reality it is YOUR head coach/athletic director that made the decision to have the things as they are. I'm not sticking up for Jerome, but he simply serves at YOUR HC/AD's leisure.
I've been watching games from all over the country on regular TV, are the SC games being shown on TV somewhere?
I see states playing in nice NFL stadiums, which we don't have, and nice D1 stadiums, which we DO HAVE. Tennessee did play at Finley Stadium, which is a FCS stadium, but it is WAY NICER than SC State.
I get it, this is a business at the end of the day, but the state championships should be played in the nicest stadiums. IF they can't get Carolina and Clemson, then rotate between Coastal, SC State, The Citadel, Furman, Wofford etc, I don't think people would have as big of an issue. I get it, travel would be far for some teams to get to some of these, but people will come to the state championship.
I miss the Weekend of Champions being at Williams Brice. You could go all day Saturday and watch all the games. If the space is an issue, split the weekend between 2 of those facilities each year. 3 games at SC State, 3 games at Furman etc. Then you can have 1 on Friday night, and 2 on Saturday. No more having teams play in the middle of the day on Thursday and Friday, when it disrupts schools, work, everything. I get that it would mean splitting staff, having 2 production companies broadcast the games, but the current model isn't great either.
