D1:
1. In the top bracket there are 6 lower state and 2 upper state teams. In the bottom bracket, there are 2 lower state and 6 upper state.
2. I simply present this as hmmmm....quite the split.
3. The bottom bracket would seem to be the more difficult bracket.
4. Both brackets are full of repeat games from the regular season.
5. Can Gaffney use their thrashing of NW last week to propel them into a run through the playoffs like the NW team of 2009 (started season with 4 losses and a record of 1-5 after 6 games) culminating in a state championship appearance?
6. Imho, Byrnes is the team to beat in D1.
7. The 2nd round of the bottom bracket has a high potential for 2 awesome games: Dorman @ Dutch Fork and NW @ Byrnes.
8. Fort D vs Gaffney is the MOST intriguing first round game with the outcome shedding a lot of light on the winner's strengths and the loser's weaknesses. It is one of the upper state vs lower state games that everyone likes to discuss from many viewpoints.
9. Imho, Fort Mill is the underdog against Dorman.
D2:
1. Goose Creek in a walk to Columbia.
2. South Florence needs to make it to Columbia to get the respect they feel they deserve.
3. Spartanburg's run through the playoffs is the one to watch for comparing upper state to lower state teams, based on Spartanburg coming out of Region 2.
It will all be fun to watch!

A couple of interesting games in the 2nd round for me in the top bracket of D1 is Summerville at Fort D(rematch) or Gaffney at Summerville(always a fun game). A Summerville vs Fort D round 2 would be a sellout for sure. These two teams do not like each other too much so each having the chance to end the other's season would make for an intense game. This game would be standing room only with the fire marshal likely closing the gates due to capacity issues.trojangrad78 wrote:D1:

GBG, In the upper bracket I wish it would be an all Dorchester Semi Final. That would be the best thing for the county. Yes I know we are a VERY VERY LONG SHOT at it but the one thing for sure is it would be nice to see it and good for the District as well. I just hope we stay in the game up at Hillcrest. We get to have the fun ride of almost 200 miles, hopefully they leave early enough to get up there and really get their legs under them before the game.GoBigGreen wrote:A couple of interesting games in the 2nd round for me in the top bracket of D1 is Summerville at Fort D(rematch) or Gaffney at Summerville(always a fun game). I hope all 3 win, the only time I don't pull for DD 2 schools is against each other. With that said I wish Colleton the best as well, Because when you look at it if we all can win that says something about all the teams in our region

I hear you SwampFox. I will be pulling for you guys against Hillcrest. If the same team which defeated FD shows up, Hillcrest may have a fight on their hands. Good luck!

I would love to see a Summerville vs. Fort D. rematch. I agree with you GBG that it would be standing room only! That being said I would have no problem hosting the Gaffney Injun's. Summerville and Gaffney have had some battles in the past and it would be a good game to watch. I do however worry about our first round game. Sumter has a lot of team speed and they are not going to be a push over by any means. It's fun for us old guys to look ahead to possible matchups but I sure hope the boys aren't. Good luck to all the lower state teamsGoBigGreen wrote:A couple of interesting games in the 2nd round for me in the top bracket of D1 is Summerville at Fort D(rematch) or Gaffney at Summerville(always a fun game).
