It was a good effort by 96. Their game plan was clearly to shorten game, run clock, they trudged it pretty good between the 20s but always were thwarted after that. Atown had only 3 possessions the entire first half, so obviously game plan was working. It was not a win the game plan but it certainly kept score down for a while. I think we aided in the 96 cause somewhat by seemingly refusing to pop a few downfield passes, we have been doing that well but for some unknown reason, on this night, with 96 obviously crowding the box, we just refused to attempt, especially last drive before half. Over 2 minutes and 3 TOs and we just wasted that drive. 96 going for it twice on 4th down in their own territory early on was not smart. On the other hand, twice on 4th and one, we punted, which was ultra conservative IMO. In the end, the sheer talent and speed of Abbeville took over, 96 wore down, and it was all Panthers. 96 has some really good players, they just need more numbers. This Abbeville team has great potential, blistering speed, wish we would stretch the field more, utilizing that speed to it's fullest, as we have at times. It's going to get interesting about the 3rd round.

The Wildcats did move the ball some . with the score 21-0 in the 3rd quarter 96 drove the ball down and fumbled inside the Abbeville five . That took the starch out of them . I have not seen Thurmond or Gray but they are probably the only 2a teams in the state that might give Abbeville trouble.
