Thanks SF Band Dad! So Bluffton is out of the playoff picture. Summerville wins and they are 3rd in Region VIII. If Summerville loses, CC is 3rd in Region VIII. So the playoffs actually start this coming Friday for Summerville .

Win or lose, I see no scenario that puts Bluffton in the playoffs. They could reach 31 points with a win and two more wins by Beaufort and Whale Branch or Battery Creek. But 31 will most likely be below the cut for an at-large berth.

Colleton County would be in the running for an at-large berth. They have 31 points in the bag, they could reach 33.
Defeat South Aiken (+1)
Beaufort wins 2 more games to have a winning record (+1)

I just took another look at the "3-way tie" scenario that occurs if Bluffton defeats Summerville. I'm now more convinced that Colleton County wins the points tie-breaker in that situation. Beaufort winning 2 more would give Bluffton an additional point which they need to reach 31, but it also gives another point to Colleton County which moves them up to 32.

GoBigGreen wrote:Based on the updated "Points w/Markoffs" SF Band Dad has posted in the "4A Standings Week 10" thread, the following is currently the Mins and Maxes for all three teams:

Summerville Max 32 Min 30
CC Max 32 Min 31
Bluffton Max 31 Min 28

Points only become a factor if Summerville loses. In that case, our Max should drop 1 point to 31. CC's season is over but they can still get to a Max of 32 dependent on some of their opponents getting to winning records. So it appears the fate of all three teams could come down to an opponent of CC winning or losing the last game. For Bluffton to get to their max of 31 they would have to beat Summerville and also pick up two more points from their opponents. If they did not get to their max, we would have a two way tie at 31 between Summerville and CC with Summerville taking it on the head to head.

Also posted in his same thread is the following order for seeding.
The 4A seeding process:
Points w/markoffs
Head-to-Head wins/losses
Opponent wins w/markoffs
Opponent losses w/markoffs
Points without markoffs
Opponent wins without markoffs
Opponent losses without markoffs
Coin flip

I know the chances are so ridiculously small it's not worth really talking about but can you imagine being tied with a team for a playoff spot and going through all those levels of tie breakers only to have it all end up being decided by a coin flip? Really puts things into an existential perspective...all the pain and sweat of offseason training and the ups and downs of a football season all being decided by something as trivial as the fluttering of a tiny metal disk. Really makes you forget about all the work put into the season and realize that all semblance of order are symptoms of man's ego mad mind. All effort is vain and all order an illusion...existence is a vulgar absurdity.
That has happened. Fort, Stratford, and Summerville all tied at 11-1 records in the 2000/01 season and it came down to drawing straws for the 1,2,3 seeds in the lower state playoffs.

Thanks for the in depth look SF Band Dad. Along with hoping to see a Summerville win this coming Friday at Bluffton I will be pulling for FD and any teams which will improve their seed to hopefully the #1 slot for the Div I playoffs.
