A new coach can make a BIG impact at a school {see T L Hanna and Byrnes}

Some things never change {South Pointe is GOOOOOOOD}

Just to name a few:
Nothing changes after last night here... still think Fort D is the team to beat and Hanna and Byrnes continue to look good and Congrats to South Pointe on a good win and representing SC

Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:Region One seems to be T L Hanna's to lose now. Seems like they have gotten everyone's attention and most have jumped on the idea that they will be a force to be considered this year. That offense drives defensive coaches crazy trying to prepare for it in just a week.
T L Hanna should end the season 10 - 0
Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:Region Two seems to be Greenwood with Hillcrest and Mauldin still making some noise. October 6 & 13 will see Greenwood face off in successive weeks with those two and the Region could be well in hand, or it could come down to the rematch from the opening week when the Rams and Mavericks met in the Non-Region game in their schedules.
Greenwood still impressing and Mauldin moved ahead of Hillcrest with the Rams poor showing at the Reservation.
Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:Region Three was looking like all five teams could be 2-2 back when we started the season and that is still possible with these teams; although, the Rebels seem to be back with impressive wins over Don Bosco and Northwestern. While I’m solidly in favor of the changes at District 5 and like what I’ve seen to this point, I think I will wait to hand the Region Championship Trophy to any one yet. All five of these teams have the potential to go deep into the playoffs, like last year when the last four teams in the Upper State bracket were all from Region Three….
Spartanburg, Byrnes, Gaffney, Boiling Springs, and Dorman all look like they are going to be ready come Region time. If I had to say which team is on the outside looking in right now, I wouldn't want to have to put money down, but I'd say the Dorman -vs- Boiling Springs game is going to be huge for both teams.
Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:Region Four is still Northwestern territory in my mind, even with that 2-2 start…. South Pointe may be the best team in the State, not just 4A, but State, so that loss is understandable. The loss to the Rebels last week was by a bigger margin than I expected, but they did shoot themselves in the foot a time or two. Fort Mill is 3 and 1, but wins over Orangeburg-Wilkinson, Lancaster and West Florence are not exactly earth shaking wins; Clover has two wins against a couple of North Carolina schools that don’t show us anything; Rock Hill has improved some and Nation Ford is sporting losses to South Point bigtime and Irmo and York. So I’m still with Northwestern here.
Still say Northwestern by default.
Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:Region Five has Irmo off to a great start… until you notice that the four wins are not really that impressive; Spring Valley does garner some more attention with the win over Sumter, but again, the others are not ringing any bells. So I’m back to Dutch Fork with the loss at home to Fort Dorchester, the win over Independence and the cancelled game. I’m still going with the Silver Foxes to win the Region. What about Lexington, you say? I say when they play someone with a pulse and win, I will at least look at them.
Well, Irmo's great start came to a speed bump when Blythewood knocked them off. Spring Valley still looking good and Dutch Fork still is my team to beat...
Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:Region Six gives us Carolina Forest with wins over no one that I know anything about {strictly on me, I don’t know them} and they are playing Myrtle Beach this week and a win there and I will have something to go on with the Panthers. Conway’s start includes a nice win over Hartsville, so I’m thinking this one could be about as wide open as Region Three as I have to throw Sumter in there as well and Socastee has two NC wins and a “W” against Myrtle Beach.
OK we got to see the Panthers and well, Conway and Sumter are the cream of the crop here.
Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:Region Seven has Fort Dorchester.

What? No comments on Region Seven? I think I said it all when I said “Fort Dorchester”. Am I missing something else? I’d be happy to read your comments on Region Seven as well as any or all the other Regions as well…..

8-)
Still say Fort D and Dutch Fork have a rematch on the horizon....

SF Band dad's team is currently only averaging 10.5 pts per game. That is 39th out of 42 teams in 5A. :(
Have only scored 3 points in their last two games combined. :cry:
I'll skip all the details that brought us to this point, but we brought up a QB from JV to start last night. He's not listed in our program's roster but I'm told he's a freshman. I have nothing but praise for the young man, he played his heart out. I hope this early taste of varsity doesn't discourage him or result in injury.

I have to concur that the Conway - Sumter game in week 9 will probably decide the region. Note: Sumter hosts.

It's tough when you have injuries.
Hopefully SF keeps playing hard and improves as the season goes.
You guys did last year.

I got to watch 2 of your games in 2016.
Westwood and Carolina Forest.
SF had significantly improved by the time you played Carolina Forest.

I know nothing. I thought it'd be Dorman or gaffney fighting for last place. Stupidly I voted for BS just thinking I was being objective. But still, they played in the state championship. Why would vote them out?

Looks like injuries decimated Byrnes. You guys were riding high. Again, I watched you folks beat the ever loving crap out of the Trojans. They were joking in the stands about a running clock. Tg was on a plane from Dallas that night and I was sending updates. He said his phone almost over heated when he turned it back on and it was all bad news.

And northwestern destroyed us. So why would I think we'd win the region. I mean does anybody really know?

It took a while for our sophomores to start playing like juniors....
