Re: Chapman
Deputy, you are spot on. Hodge made the stars align at Chapman and turned it into a powerhouse. The stars don't always continue to align when factors, like this, change. Head Coach, OC, DC and Asst HC all leaving. That is a huge turnover in high school football. Wish the next coach the best of luck and it certainly does not mean he will not keep the Chapman machine rolling. It will just be interesting to see after two seasons, where does Chapman stand?

Re: Chapman
Chapman will stand as once again a mediocre program.
Re: Chapman
Hodge is a good coach. And yes, I guess the stars aligned as far as talent was concerned, but figure that staff had a lot to do with developing that talent. This years team may have been as good as any team in 3A under today's classifications. New coach taking a huge chance as it almost seems impossible to do anything but slide backwards a bit. Chapman loses a ton of talent off of last year's team. But he knows it can be done there. Am sure at Mauldin he recognized the limits of most all Greenville County coaches face and figured he could never rise above mediocrity there. Chapman gives him the chance to coach a program that is capable. A risk, but in his situation, probably a risk worth taking.RoadWarrior98 wrote:Deputy, you are spot on. Re: Chapman
Was he the only person that applied? Seems like a head scratcher on Chapman’s part.

Usually, when you get a big time job, you are a big time coach. Harry Canibus underachieved at best at Mauldin. Especially when compared to Coaches Taylor and Shaw.

Re: Chapman
MrFootball68, There are many that could argue that Chapman could have hired a bigger name. However, I do not think that you could describe Coach Cabaniss' as 'underachieving at best'. No disrespect, but its Mauldin. Mauldin lost to Hillcrest, Byrnes, Gaffney, Dorman and Clover in 2019. Byrnes, Gaffney, Dorman and Clover were the last 4 teams standing in upstate 5A football.
How big of a name was Mark Hodge when he went to Chapman? Cabaniss will have his work cut out for him to keep Chapman at the top of 3A football, but there must be some people who believe Cabaniss has done the best with what he had to earn this opportunity.
