This just points out how the push for having 5 classifications was stupid. And now the coaches have pushed to split the top classification....
Work and toe up and play your games or make a system that works in the week to week game action. I.E. have games that schools are close by to make games work without having massive travel.
This state doesn't have enough schools for 4 classifications, much less 5....

The Ohio High School Athletic Association put out a pretty good FAQ of the MaxPreps RPI system.I'm Batman! wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 4:06 pmThat is correct, it is not an RPI but an RPI RANKING.SF Band dad wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 10:43 pmWow, that's nuts. I'm not familiar with MaxPreps RPI rankings, but the only way I can make SCHSL's example scenarios work is if a lower RPI number is the better rank.
https://ohsaaweb.blob.core.windows.net/ ... I-FAQs.pdf
The formula is:
RPI = (0.40 × Win %) + (0.35 × Opponent's Win %) + (0.25 × Opponent's Opponent's Win %)

Yes. Ohio has a good FAQ on this type system but,SF Band dad wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 7:55 pmThe Ohio High School Athletic Association put out a pretty good FAQ of the MaxPreps RPI system.

The formula is:

Ohio has changed the percentages to their own liking within that state.
North Carolina also uses a MaxPreps RPI type system.
https://www.nchsaa.org/contest-limitati ... ng-format/
The formula North Carolina uses is:
RPI = (0.30 × Win %) + (0.40 × Opponent's Win %) + (0.30 × Opponent's Opponent's Win %)
We will have to wait and see the percentages that the SCHSL decides to use?

And many folks thought this was "way too complicated".
This is child's play when compared to this RPI stuff!
Class / Status…........................ Win ….. Loss
5A ….. Winning Record…......... 5.00 ….. 4.00
5A ….. Non-winning Record…… 4.50 ….. 3.50
4A ….. Winning Record…......... 4.00 ….. 3.00
4A ….. Non-winning Record…… 3.50 ….. 2.50
3A ….. Winning Record…......... 3.00 ….. 2.00
3A ….. Non-winning Record…… 2.50 ….. 1.50
2A ….. Winning Record…......... 2.00 ….. 1.00
2A ….. Non-winning Record…… 1.50 ….. 0.50
1A ….. Winning Record…......... 1.00 ….. 0.00
1A ….. Non-winning Record…… 0.50 ….. -0.50
