Point of order for what it's worth, 4343 has always maintained being a low country resident ablbiet without much allegiance to any of the teams down there. I'd bet he's seen the Patriots play on more than one occasion.
The problem I have is our own fleeting respect! Up until Friday Dorman wasn't supposed to be good enough to be in Columbia by virtue of the fact that Byrnes was on our same side of the bracket and apparently us Cav fans knew it was true! If we lose to Fort D and he don't respect you guys then our name will be mud again.

I think you might have a career in the courtroom if you wanted. Your post did an excellent job of responding to something I didn't even say. I clearly said by BEATING Dorman, I would give credit to Fort D as the best team this season. Nowhere did I say this one game can change the history of a program. The history of Fort D's program is a decent team from the lowcountry but not a statewide power. Three or four seasons playing for state titles in a 7-8 year span gets you that label, not one trip to a state championship game. The "respect" given to Dorman is because they did something I didn't see them doing, and that is coming out of a bracket that I didn't think they had a chance in winning. Fort Dorchester hasn't done anything I didn't expect, based on their bracket. A state championship win would be unexpected to me (maybe not to others) and therefore would get the nod of the hat saying Fort Dorchester is the best team this season. Not sure what else you want me to see. So far, Fort Dorchester has done EXACTLY what I expected based on the brackets. Nothing more, nothing less. A state championship win qualifies as MORE.2002Patriot wrote:Mate, I'm not worried about the respect from you...lol. The fact that one game will decide whether we get respect from you is a bit of a laugh. You base us off our "history" yet one game will change that? One game will change our "history" of a football program in your eyes? You're talking about basing respect off of our program's history but you give Dorman the respect and their worth based off their 2015 season. So what are you basing things on? The history or the season?FootballFan4343 wrote:Obviously you haven't read my posts regarding Fort Dorchester. My posts have been about Fort D, the program, not Fort D the 2015 football team. Historically, Fort Dorchester, as a program, has not been up to par with upper state teams. This year's team has its chance to change that for the future on Saturday. Fort Dorchester has yet to beat a team, from outside of the lowcountry, that is deserving of a "Wow". That can change on Saturday with a win against the Cavaliers. Dorman has proven their worth throughout the season with a very tough schedule and have gotten hot at the right time. If Fort Dorchester can win, I am happy to give them credit for having the best team this year.2002Patriot wrote:^ I gave up thinking we'd get any respect from him weeks ago. If we manage to win by like 3 pts against Dorman, the respect won't be there because some fluky play would've resulted in us winning. If we won in a blowout, the respect won't be there because he'll make up another excuse. He'll never give Fort any credit for anything so I'm not going to lose sleep over it...lol.
Face it, you don't respect us and you never will. Regardless of what happens in Columbia we won't gain your respect whether to validate this season or rewrite our "history" in your eyes. If anything we'll lose whatever little respect you may or may not have had building up inside to save a bit of face. First it's "Oh you don't beat upper state teams" and then we beat Boiling Springs (who plays in the same region as Dorman so a similar schedule) and it's "Oh you don't beat traditional powers of upper state teams who have had a tough schedule and have proved their worth by getting hot at the right time." What's next? We have to beat upper state teams that are nationally ranked, away from home, have a tough schedule that's approved by you, while starting the game 28 points down, and we need to win by 25+ points?
Just own it that you do not and will never respect Fort regardless of what it does and especially what it does in Columbia. I'd have more respect for you if you could and would do that.

I have seen a Fort Dorchester game this season and they have a great football team. But just because I don't think they are the best in the state doesn't mean I "disrespect" them. Secondly, why does everyone care so much about my opinion? I am one man, offering it.DeCav wrote:Point of order for what it's worth, 4343 has always maintained being a low country resident ablbiet without much allegiance to any of the teams down there. I'm sorry I thought we could discuss and debate opinions on here. Duly noted and will make sure from here on out to a) not care about your opinions anymore (did a couple weeks ago) and b) make sure to avoid your opinions.FootballFan4343 wrote:I have seen a Fort Dorchester game this season and they have a great football team. Fort will have to win it all.yes you win your games .offensive output isn't a issue.defensively there is still a question. Yes there has been some turnovers.a lot of self induced turnovers by the other teams.out of 12 or so only 3 or 4 I can think of have or can be claimed by the actual defense.although you benefit the Same either way.
We all know talent is there .but to be honest we have seen what some of us believe to be more talented teams of forts do less.you have to expect a reasonable amount of doubt. The old saying was if you saw your coaches on the side line you knew you had a chance to beat fort.i have seen you get beat on the pass and the ground.
I believe Byrnes had the best d at this point and time .
So we shall see what shakes out.

Re: For my low country friend...
I wanted to congratulate the entire Fort Dorchester team on a great 2015 season. While I didn't get a chance to attend in person, I was able to read recaps and it is obvious the Patriots left no doubt. 2015 was a historic season for Fort D and they deserve. It congratulations, it is obvious Fort Dorchester is the top team in the state for this season! Congratulations!
