.......I like Patriots for Duncan High. Just like the NFL, the Patriots are hated by every other team because of all of the cheating and underhanded dealings. Of course, the winning while doing it makes it even worse. So, yeah, Patriots would fit the bill.

I think the story line goes like this:

< This is a dramatization > Duncan, SC - A hapless head-coach is notified by another team that he played an ineligible player in a couple of games. The coach realizes those games will be forfeits and that will move his team to a lower seed in the 4A playoff bracket. If the brackets are reshuffled his team would have to play the undefeated, defending state champions in the first round.

The coach notifies the SCHSL as quickly as possible but he's always struggled with high-tech stuff, like e-mail, and it takes him a few days. In the spirit of a true TV drama our hero figures out how to use his e-mail just in the nick-of-time. He hits the send button a few hours before the first-round kick-offs, by the time the SCHSL executive committee can consider the situation some teams are already on their buses. They have no choice but to leave the brackets as-is. The town of Duncan rejoices.

Our hero has successfully ducked a first round butt-cutting by the state powerhouse. The school changes their mascot to the "Ducks" in his honor. His exploits and skill don't go unnoticed, for the low price of a 2nd-born son he is offered a gig as an assistant coach at an SEC university. < Fade to black >

Well, I'd imagine that Indians and Braves will soon {if not already} be looking for new mascots. Wade Hampton high schools may soon be under consideration for a name change. Looking over the list of mascots, pretty soon we may have a very limited number of names to choose from....
