What do we do with the Oceanside/Gray etc.

Discussions for fans of all teams and all classes of South Carolina High School Football.

What should be done with the "PRIVATE SCHOOLS" like Oceanside, Gray etc in athletics?

Christ Church OWNED 1-A until they moved them up and they openly gave star players free tuition to come there...........they won several rings wiith the qb from hillcrest.............make them all move up a classification if they don't have specific school district boundaries for students to come from...........it's the only fair way to do it............
So with this idea, schools like Academic Magnet will be pushed up a level and will likely end up closing down football....
Stall moved up classification to save money .they lose about every game.

But at Stall, they still have enough of a population to put together a team. At Academic Magnet, they have a limited number of potential players, and with playing up and getting beaten a lot, I see that number of "potential players" getting smaller and smaller. It will be harder to put enough players together to field a team.

It will be a decision for them to make...........closing down football will not be their only option............the rules can't be determined to accomodate just 1 school..........or a small number of schools.............they must be for the common good..........

That is my point....

Once in the Navy, we were standing at Morning Quarters (time for headcount, who is here, who is missing) and the Senior Chief is looking at the list and called out Spawn? Spawn? Where is Spawn? Then he goes into a tirade screaming and yelling when I say be at quarters at 0700 I mean 0700, &%^&$ bunch of &^%$^& worthless scumbags. I spoke up, Hey Senior Chief, I've been here since 0655, why don't you go yell at Spawn, he's the idiot who thinks he is special!

You don't punish Academic Magnet because Oceanside is recruiting, you punish Oceanside!

The SCHSL can't even stop recruiting in public schools or should I say transferring for athletic purposes...it happens all the time...some kid want to play for a coach or at a more high file program...hell it may have happened at Gaffney this year with the Loftis kid...I'm not sure of the whole story of that move....

Wish there was a data based for kids that transferred that also played sports...

Gaffney plays Grey's this week so we will see how well they recruit...

I believe the question isn't necessarily how well they "MAY" recruit, but how deep is their position roster when it comes to playing with the Big Boys! A good example has been Clowns boys against the other major AAAAA teams down in Charleston. He is very competitive against Fort and Summerville in the 1st half but has not been able to close the deal basically because of depth in the games I have watched over the past 5 years. They would be a killer team in AAAA but I understand why they play the AAAAA schedule they do (TRAVEL).

As far as Loftis is concerned......Nobody should ever be questioned for transferring out of the dumpster fire that is Blue Ridge Football. Supposedly, he has college level talent. He probably want to be healthy when that time comes, and running for his life at BR lessened the chances of that.

As far as the Oceanside, Gray's, and Legions. Put them in their own classification. But the SCHSL doesn't have time for that. They are more worried about some kid celebrating after a sack.

Most everyone knows my thoughts on this. All Public Charter Schools need to play in their own Division. That way all of them have the same rules. This is just like The SCISA 8 man League. They have their own division and own championship. So hopefully soon the Charter Schools will have their own Division. I talked to some Oceanside people at the game the other day and they told me that they have to rent the Citadel's Stadium because they are not allowed to use any Public School Stadiums since they are a Charter School.
