Probably remembers what happened to Doc at Spartanburg.. :o
You think?

Yeah, I"m talking about the "FOOTBALL CULTURE" only... a winning attitude. Doc and Hodge built a winning attitude at both programs and an expectation of being a winning team on a regular basis, not once in every few years!

Here is a tweet Hodge has on his twitter page. Remember he coached under Doc early on in his career.

Vickie do you really realize one player don’t make a team. The player you are talking about is Bomar he is a good Athlete but he doesn’t make the whole team. Hodge has built a culture at Spartanburg that is back from the days of DOC DAVIS!!! For you to think this you are jaded. I was there with DeCav and His and my assessment of the game was SPARTANBURG VIKINGS are the better SEASONED team. So get your facts straight before you come at anything you think is the truth……
That's you opinion. I was at the game as well, as a matter of fact i've been to all of their games except the Riverside game. I speak the TRUTH!! ;)

I'm have no idea what will happen. Obviously, the big story this weekend is Dorman's struggle to score on Mauldin. I'm not sure if Dorman was playing a vanilla playbook.

We will struggle to run between the tackles I fear and will have to get to the outside or throw the ball. If the Dorman Oline can make holes between the tackles, I think we should be able to eke out a win. The Byrnes' red zone defense is stellar. It's like a siege trying to get through them. Dorman would do good to try and strike for TD's from outside the 20's. I can see them getting bogged down inside the ten.

The Byrnes' kicking game was not that impressive when I saw them play so hopefully the Dorman D can force them to try for FG's.

It is a tired trope, but this one might come down to turnovers and time of possession. Hopefully, we can keep the receivers in front of us. I've seen the Byrnes QB and when he misses it seems like it's overthrown. I think missed FG's, PAT's and interceptions will play a part in determining the winner. Byrnes blocked a punt and ran it back for a TD Friday night so we'll need to stay stout up front and not take them for granted.

Should be an exciting game. I don't expect a lot of scoring. I'll be surprised if either team scores more than 24 points. I can't call a winner in this one so I'll just wish both programs good luck.

Well in his defense it was a better result than the Mauldin score. He just wants to share.

You think I need alcohol to act like an idiot?

Oh Ken! You underestimate me! Or are you overestimating me?

Anyway, don’t cry out loud. I know last night smarts. You can take shots. I don’t hate ya.

Oh, this entire season smarts... or to be more accurate, dumbs down things! I can't understand how we can't put together four quarters of football.

Many folks were thinking that last night was make or break for the coaching staff and I felt like we were not properly prepared and ready (just like in most of our games this season) in the first half. We make some great adjustments at halftime in every game except for the West Florence game; however, the question remains, "What do we need to do to be prepared in the first half of games?"

I feel your pain man! Dorman has always had the opposite problem under Gutshall. It was always my perception that Dorman played flat 3rd quarters Friday after Friday.

I was grateful to discover last night that Dorman#1 had driven up from his current residence in GA to be with family and had decided to see the game. He texted me asking if I was at the game and we met up and watched the second half together.

He played for Gutshall and confirmed that it was doctrine to play the 3rd quarter not to lose.

If I had to choose though I’d always rather be a second half team than a first half team.

Clearly Byrnes deserves a lot of respect last night for storming back after being down 22-0 to tie up the game and possibly force the contest into overtime.

How about that kick???

Clearly, the story last night wasn’t so much the clutch kick as much as it was the fact that our kicking game had been so bad all night to the point that we tried two different place kickers back to back in failed bids to pick up three.

The reaction of both sides when we sent our kicking unit out to attempt the 44 yard kick was telling. Our side had an audibly negative reaction to the call.

My other friend and I were joking about taking bets on how many yards short the kick was gonna be. I watched the Cavs play Greenville in their first game. Haven't seen them play since until last night. It looks like our QB struggles with the touch pass and that Curtis decided to just lean on our running attack in the second half and try to run the clock. The Byrnes defense definitely bowed up again in the red zone last night when it counted.

I suspect that Dorman isn't likely to escape this regular season without 2 losses. It seems we really do have the toughest two games of the season yet to play. Though Dorman has proven that they know how to win this year and that last night was as clutch of a win as they come, we're not going to be able to best Gaffney or Spartanburg unless our throwing game gets a lot better.

If Byrnes can come out hot in the 1st and 2nd quarters and keep up the momentum in the last two, you will have more success in the playoffs for sure. I thought the Rebels played really well last night. I said I'd be surprised if either team scored more than 24. Color me surprised because one team scored 25.

I will be a Rebel fan for the rest of the year unless we meet again.

I would say I have successfully hijacked this thread!

My apologies to the Viking fans. Clearly, Dorman is not relevant enough to warrant a spot on page 1.

Peace and Love!
