Yes, coaching makes that much of a difference. That's why we pay them handsomely. These kids don't coach and lead themselves.
Perhaps true. Equally true is the fact that the coaches don't punch it in for a touchdown themselves ..
But they are responsible for much more. Schemes that work, calling the right plays for the situation, getting participation, developing the kids, assembling the right assistants, getting support, motivation. The list is very long. If a coach isn't important why have them and pay them well? Especially at the next levels. It matters and it matters a lot. I don't understand when people down play the importance of the right leader.
