After a great opening week win over Greer, the Lions will face county rival from right down Highway 123 in Easley for the 59th time.
If you would’ve asked me after last season I would’ve told you that Easley might be a sleeper team in Region 1-4A that might surprise the two top teams in Greenville and Westside. Then they lost their very talented QB. I still think they have the players to be in the playoffs, but they have some work cut out for them. Coach Durrah is in his 4th season and each year they’ve improved, but every time he’s faced Daniel it’s been ugly. The last 3 meetings they’ve lost by an average of 38 points and only once in the last 5 meeting have the Green Wave held Daniel under 50 points.
Coming into the season our offense had a lot more question marks than the defense and I thought our defense performed well, offense still has questions that need to be answered but I am more confident in them after seeing them in game action. The QB battle for Daniel is probably not resolved but if Turnipseed has another solid game then the battle will be over. Our backs are an amazing duo of thunder and lightning. Shaw is more of a power back who isn’t afraid of contact but is still shifty, and Bennett is quicker and more of a threat catching out of the backfield and has knack for finding the end zone on big plays. It’s obviously hard to replace 4 senior receivers who each are playing at the college level but I think we have a decent group and they’ll continue to get better once they find their groove with in game action.
With the unknowns from Easley I’m not sure how to assess this one. Now if an inspired Easley team comes to town and can stymie our Backs and force us to go through the air then we might be in trouble. I think it can be a close one but I still believe my Lions take this one.

We will try our best so your Feckless Flamers can be happy that Easley lost. Pickens has a long way to go it looks like, hard to teach them how to run an offense without a fullback.DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 3:25 pmMy prediction:stretch wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 1:50 pmAfter a great opening week win over Greer, the Lions will face county rival from right down Highway 123 in Easley for the 59th time.

Re: Daniel vs Easley
Part of me wishes Knotts would schedule the Feckless Ones and beat them about 150-0 to show them truly how awful they are. Seems like beating West-Oak and Berea every now and then is good enough.stretch wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 6:28 pmWe will try our best so your Feckless Flamers can be happy that Easley lost. Lions win 38-0 tonight over Easley. Wasn’t at this one but was following along to see how our RBs took over once again. Bennett in particular had himself a day with 2 90+ yard TD runs. We have next week off before traveling across the border to take on Hart County.

Re: Daniel vs Easley
One of the more impressive wins from the Lions in the last few years.
Bennett just couldn’t be contained all night and probably could have had 350+ yards if he wasn’t sharing duties with Shaw.
Defense played just an average game but there is so much depth up front that they can consistently get pressure and make passing tough.
Turnipseed seems entrenched as the starter for now, but the receivers will honestly make or break this team.

DDub3 mentioned before, he’s sharing carries and it could’ve been more. This kid is something else.
