Northwestern is a very good football team this year.
We have a potent offense, but the defense has improved since last year. We started 4 sophomores on the defensive line last year and this year, as juniors, they are bigger/faster/stronger. The secondary is also very young and had grown this year, too.
Last night against Laurens, the defensive stats were pretty good.
In the first half, Laurens ran 33 offensive plays for a net offensive output of -3 yards against the NW 1st team defense.
In the second half (with a running clock), Laurens ran 13 offensive plays for a net offensive output of -2 yards against the 2nd team varsity, jv, and 9th graders.
Game total for Laurens' offense was 46 plays and -5 net offensive yardage.
The 4 defensive linemen that played during the game had 14 tackles for a loss.
NW defense also had 2 interceptions and the special teams blocked 2 punts.
A pretty solid effort.
Looking forward to seeing Greenwood come into Football City USA at historic District 3 stadium next Friday night. GO TROJANS!
Offense wins fans. Defense wins championships.

Come November, sophomores are no longer sophomores-- they're juniors now. Same for Jrs. Senior are now grown arse men.
