The last 4 years my Lions have been in 3A dominating the competition only losing 1 game and winning 3 state titles. This year we bump back up to 4A and we kick off the season against a good Chapman team. The last time we faced Chapman at home it was an unforgettable night and I’m hoping this one will be exciting but not as stressful.
My Lions are having to replace a lot on both sides of the ball but the starters and major contributors that are back are very good players so I am confident we will have a decent team to start out the year and over the course of the season we will hit our stride with the new starters.
For the 3rd year in a row we will have a new QB under center, the two young men contending for the job is senior Lee Turnipseed and Sophomore Grayson Clary. Unlike last year, I am comfortable with either one of these options to be the full time starter. I’m expecting this competition to go on into the first few games like it has the last few times we’ve had a QB battle.
Last year Chapman was solid going 10-2 with their losses coming to Boiling Springs and Chester but having a big win over Byrnes. Not sure how much Chapman brings back this year I did remember seeing one of their better players transferring to MVP so that isn’t ideal for them.
If anyone got to see any of Chapman this preseason I’d love to hear what you saw from them.

Re: Daniel vs Chapman
They have two really good RBs, very fast and explosive ! QB is good passer! Have good size but not much depth . I don't see Daniel having too much of a problem with this one!stretch wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 11:57 amThe last 4 years my Lions have been in 3A dominating the competition only losing 1 game and winning 3 state titles. Re: Daniel vs Chapman
Give me Daniel by at least 30, Chapman isn't the same Chapman they have been the last few years. They lost a ton to Graduation and lost maybe their fastest returning player to MVP.stretch wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 11:57 amThe last 4 years my Lions have been in 3A dominating the competition only losing 1 game and winning 3 state titles. Went to their jamboree Friday vs Greer. They don’t wow you. They are solid . Their RB is quick. Their pass defense is terrible. Greer burnt them twice. Btw Greer looked better than I expected them to. They have good size and depth. Their qbs isn’t huge but is a playmaker and they have a big receiver who torched them twice. Greer will be a tough out later in the year.stretch wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 11:57 amThe last 4 years my Lions have been in 3A dominating the competition only losing 1 game and winning 3 state titles. You can watch that scrimmage and the other 3 on the wren football network. They covered all of those games. Worth watching wren and westside games specifically.

8time was 3 points off of calling this one right on the number. 41-21 win for the Lions, I wasn’t there for this one but I’ll take a win by 20 any day.

No doubt! And really could’ve been a much bigger margin. The best game happening in Pickens County was Easley @ Pickens. Great game, but I really don’t know if we should be proud of Pickens or embarrassed of Easley
